Evening viewing recommendation? On @criterionchannl, watch Hal Ashby's HAROLD AND MAUDE (1971). ❤️ Equal parts gallows humor and romantic innocence, Ashby's film dissolves the line between darkness and light along with the ones that separate people by class, gender, and age, and it features indelible performances and a remarkable soundtrack by Cat Stevens.

@MsPocketRocket True . Falk states .."In 1966..., I was walking on 57th Street in New York when it started to rain.  I entered a shop and bought a raincoat.  When I had to find one for Columbo, I simply took this one."

Days Out in London: Brockwell Park is a sprawling 50-hectare Victorian park in Herne Hill, South London, famous for its historic Grade II-listed Art Deco lido. It offers scenic meadows, a miniature railway, a BMX track, and stunning views of the London skyline.

According to screenwriter Philip Dunne, Gene Tierney had the "tendency to go way overboard and ham it up" with her acting and "one has to hold her down". During the early days of filming "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" (1947), Philip Dunne was appalled after seeing the rushes. The performance wasn't suited for the movie. She was playing the character in a "Kooky" way. He had to approach Darryl F. Zanuck to reshoot the scenes filmed in the first two days as director Joseph L. Mankiewicz didn't side with him. Here is what Philip Dunne said: "[Gene Tierney] was playing the character of Mrs. Muir kooky. When she came into the house [the nautical seaside cottage designed and haunted by the ghost] , she was tiptoeing around and making funny little grimaces or monkey faces.... I rushed up to Joe and said, This is all wrong. The character should be an absolutely straightforward, practical woman who takes no nonsense from the ghost.' He didn't agree, so we went to Zanuck, who sided with me, and we redid the first two days and got her on the right track. I think it was her idea in the first place, rather than Joe's, as we had been all through the script together, but Joe let her do it." ["Pictures Will Talk: The Life and Films of Joseph L. Mankiewicz", Kenneth L. Geist, 1978] P.S: On this day, 79 years ago. "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" (1947) premiered in London, UK.

@GarryDarlington I recall my dad kicking the ball towards me and then taking the snap. What puzzles me, though, is that I'm naturally right-handed.

Oh, look. Dad made me the cricket bat. He was good at joinery. And the ball is a tennis ball. Imagine being so rich you have a homemade cricket bat.
