@n6oflife6 Nobody used the word ‘king’ you say…typed confidently while the internet still has the flyers. But sure, caps lock and righteous anger is a great substitute for owning your messaging. Carry on! Also, what you mean “every perpetrator will be dealt with” By who if I may ask?

@pleshido_sp @Jericoco22 @Markosonke1 Oh sorry, I forgot words, symbols and ceremonies only matter when a government approves them first. Thanks for the civics lesson from the Department of Missing the Point. Have a blessed one though.

Look at the world… you’ll find Chinatowns in almost every country, with Chinese cultural leaders, festivals, even community structures, but you don’t see chaos or people burning things over it. You’ve got Indian communities across the globe celebrating their traditions, crowning cultural figures, hosting festivals… no one is panicking saying "they’re taking over." Even Europeans move everywhere British, French, Spanish communities exist worldwide and nobody is fighting because someone represents their culture abroad. So why is it different with us? If Nigerians crown a king in East London, it doesn’t suddenly make him king of South Africa… it’s clearly a cultural/community thing. Why are we so quick to fight, destroy, and divide? Africans, kanti yini ngani… what are we really angry at? Why do we hate each other like this?

Unrest: East London. Protesters have torched vehicles and buildings. Reports say property belonging to foreign nationals are being targeted in protest against the installation of a Nigerian king in the Eastern Cape.

@PeterChesire4 @Jericoco22 @Markosonke1 Intent doesn’t erase impact. ‘King’ and ‘coronation’ are sovereign terms. Using them on foreign soil then calling the blowback xenophobia isn’t a defence, it’s an escape hatch.

@Garvey_Spirit @Jericoco22 @Markosonke1 The words " king" and "coronation" conjures territorial authority in normal parlance but in this case no such claim or even intention to claim any SAn thing. Any authority claimed refers only to Igbo in the town and everybody knows this. Anything else is an excuse for xenophobia

@official_Gegeh We love all our African brothers and sisters, but the so called Igbo king is taking a piss. Ofcoz I don’t support vandalism, but I think they were asking for it. They were called to clarify their actions, they never responded. So Violence is the only language, I’m afraid.

Funny part is that ppl on X are so far detached from reality that they don’t even bother to ask even pretend not to know!! The community reported that there was a community meeting before the so called coronation and Nigerians had demanded their own land
Sentletse 🇿🇦🇷🇺🇵🇸🇱🇧@Sentletse

Some random Nigerian clown declares himself a king of Igbos in East London and xenophonic thugs decide to turn violent. That clown has no authority over anything or anyone. What’s the melodrama about?

You Are A bloody idiot we have got China town , I am sure if we have Nigeria town , you still come out and display your foolishness. Someone that don’t have palace ? That won’t be giving King staff. That won’t be paid by the government. Or even recognize is who is giving you sleepless Night ? You and I know this is not the problem. The problem is you are frustrated from corruption. And suffering from post apartheid trauma.

@Jericoco22 @Markosonke1 Another feeble minded person probably suffering from a mind of a rat. You know nothing about South Africa, let alone abeXhosa. Do you even have a clue of traditional rulership in SA? Or you just running your mouth? You’re very stupid right now.

@Markosonke1 I’m not for any of this violence. But if you old enough to understand the history Yabexhosa, you’d know the actions of the Igbo king were a declaration of war. They were asked to clarify their position 2 weeks ago, but chose not to.

This is honestly so sad and embarrassing for AFRICA 😔💔 why are we like this as black people? Why do we always turn on each other instead of uniting? Like be honest… would you ever see Spanish people fighting because someone crowned a "Spanish king" in another country? No… because they understand it’s cultural, not political. So why are we burning things and fighting over something that doesn’t even mean control over East London? If Nigerians crown someone, it’s clearly a community/cultural thing… not that he’s now ruling over South Africans. Kanti 😞 why do we hate each other so much like this? All of us know the king of ama Xhosa and that won't change... Africans, especially black people… what’s really going on? Can we talk

@Joe__Bassey Coronation means one thing. They were asked to clarify their position. They didn’t follow protocol, and had 2 weeks to clarify their actions. Now you’re spinning it as if SA natives misunderstood their actions? If Ingwe means “King”, where’s the “misunderstanding”…

To be truthful, South Africans don’t want other Africans in their country, and the truth is that they definitely need to adhere to them. Let’s see how the country’s economy works, because some even think Nigerians are there to take their jobs, which is insane, especially the fact that most White South Africans prefer working with other Black Africans outside South Africa 🇿🇦 than the indigenous people. Now down to the Igbo people. Everyone knows that Igbos are not there to take lands in South Africa 🇿🇦 or to rule anyone. What they are doing is unionism, which has always been practiced among them for centuries, where they form a group to contribute and protect their businesses while helping those who are struggling financially outside their homeland. So they install a leader known as Igwe, meaning King, over the Union to oversee it. Not a king to take South Africa’s lands but to protect and oversee their businesses and organization. Some South Africans misinterpret everything because of hatred and what some Nigerians have done to destroy their properties, and others think they are there to steal your jobs or lands.
Typical African@Joe__Bassey

South Africans are attacking every African, especially Nigerians, in East London, South Africa 🇿🇦 after an Igbo union declared an Igwe last week. Many cars and businesses have been destroyed already with gory videos being circulated. We know Igbo people love unionism. It’s high time they stop giving the title Igwe outside their ancestral land to avoid controversy between them and the people.
