McDonald's Fried Apple Pies suck. They sucked 30 years ago, and they'll suck when they return. Liking them shows you have the taste buds of a middle schooler.

The correct reasons for doctors to refuse to chemically castrate and dismember confused children caught up in an online social contagion that has brainwashed them into believing they were born in the wrong body is: -- There has never been an evidence base supporting such objectively harmful practices -- Basic humanity that prevents them from stunting the maturation or cutting off healthy body parts off of children -- Common sense and grounding in reality But fear of criminal charges will have to suffice in this case.

There have been so many times when I've looked at Republican candidates for office and felt so deeply and profoundly confused because they are *obvious crazy people* or clear grifters and how could voters not see that? Now seeing it among a (blessedly much smaller) number of Democratic candidates and it's even more destabilizing.

People are always like “libs hate america” but I lib and libs love America. Most libs just happen to be pussies who won’t engage in the “rah rah America is not just good but better than everywhere else” stuff I say. But the libs love America. It’s the left that hates America lol

Days of discourse on sex and marriage! It's not difficult people! Generally, sex is good in relationships! Holding hands, cuddling, and other intimacies are good in relationships! Couples are different and each needs to work this out in their own way. Will Chamberalin is a jerk.

More Than One in 250 Biological Girls in Oregon Between 2016 and 2023 Were on Testosterone by Age 17, New Study Finds GIFT LINK: nysun.com/article/more-t… The rate, from a new study of data about insured adolescents, represents an average over the seven-year period. Given the swift increase in usage over time, the rate was likely much higher by 2023. (This is an expanded version of my newsletter account of this study, with more commentary. For example, the passage below.) A child psychologist who helped establish the field of pediatric gender medicine in the United States two decades ago, Laura Edwards-Leeper, has emerged in recent years as a prominent critic of what she has characterized as the field’s flagging observation of important safety guardrails. She recently relocated to the Midwest after spending about a decade practicing in Oregon. In an interview with The New York Sun, Dr. Edwards-Leeper conjectured that two main factors were likely driving what she characterized — in contrast to the papers’ authors — as notably high rates of gender-transition medication uptake among minors in her former home state. First, she said, “Oregon is arguably the most trans-affirming state in the nation.” This includes in school curricula, which, she said, “encourage students of all ages to contemplate their gender identity.” Second, Oregon health care providers are also “extremely supportive of trans people,” Dr. Edwards-Leeper added. Many pediatric providers “value their patients’ bodily autonomy regardless of age” and are concerned that denying youths prompt receipt of gender-transition drugs will harm their mental health. Dr. Edwards-Leeper said that the pediatric gender medicine field has undergone a sea change over the past decade in providers’ attitudes about conducting comprehensive psychological assessments of minors as a condition of approving them for blockers or hormones. Her own vocal advocacy for such assessments, which she sees as vital, has largely fallen on deaf ears in Oregon. Many of her former colleagues there, she said, have come to see such assessments as unnecessary and egregiously burdensome to vulnerable young patients. “Unfortunately,” Dr. Edwards-Leeper said, “this shift occurred as the mental health complexity of this young patient population was increasing. In other words, thorough assessments to help determine whether medical interventions would be beneficial were removed when they were needed most.”

@Lfromthenorth @b0nes0fsal When clean shaving became a thing, I was a bit put off, but I've grown used to it and I kinda like it now. I'm old enough to remember 70s bush, which could definitely be more difficult to deal with.

@b0nes0fsal Honestly I lowkey agree. If I have a partner that likes to shave everything bare, I'm not gonna stop her, bc it's her body, but I definetly like a bit of bush. It just feels more mature and natural, and I'm definetly into that!

47,000 likes for this whine. I am 62. I have worked since I was 16. I have savings and an ok 401k, and will never own a home. Your bio says, "I wasted money on a Master's." Your 2024 tweets say you moved to an island "having the best time of my life."😱 This may be a YOU problem! But fear not! You still have time! When I was 52, my savings was nil and my 401k tiny. Divorce at 55 forced me to go into high gear and start saving. Today I'm not rolling in Benjamins, but I'm doing ok. Start saving now! Enjoy fewer islands, do more work! You can do it! (Nobody is going to do it for you.) Elon Musk being rich didn't make you poor.

I am 52 years old. I have been working since I was 15 years old. I have no savings, no retirement, and will never own a home before I die. And there is now a trillionaire.

@jonkay I think this may be the very moment I realized that Canadians said soccer rather than football. It makes sense, I just never realized it before.

I’m fine for people to run around waving their flags and screaming about how we scored a goal in a soccer match. But the idea that getting a draw against a balkan country of 3 million people is some kind of historic Canadian achievement seems quite weird to me.
Joe Callaghan@JoeCallaghan84

Wrote about this exact moment and the moments we then saw inside the stadium today as Cyle Larin lifted Canada all the way up. Can a country lift its team? Yes. And this team of all teams is ready to feed off Canada’s love. For @TorontoStar thestar.com/sports/soccer/…

The reason anyone gets insanely rich is almost always because of the stock market. It certainly how @elonmusk did. And the reason they get rich from the stock market, is because 150m Americans decided they wanted to own shares of stocks directly, or through their retirement plans, or through other approaches as a way of building their net worth and trying to create a better life for themselves. One Hundred Fifty Million Americans. About 60% of adults. Effectively believing that @elonmusk and many billionaires could make them wealthier and help them achieve a better life. If you want @elonmusk , and most billionaires to no longer be that rich, convince those 150m to sell their stocks, funds, ETFs whatever. Of course you would wipe out the net-worth of most of those people, and everyone else’s savings, as the markets crashed and brought down the economy and created the worst depression we have ever seen. Alternatively There are ways to improve healthcare access and eventually make it available to all. To start - If you want @elonmusk and all billionaires to improve healthcare for everyone , ask them to stop doing business with the enormous healthcare conglomerates and to work directly with transparently priced care providers. It’s the behemoth HC conglomerates that make HC so bad for so many. (Check my timeline for more detail) Removing them would push the cost of healthcare down for everyone. Their corporate decisions impact our healthcare cost and availability. Of course if they do that, not only would our HC costs go down , and the quality of care for their employees and the entire country go up But They would see their corporate cash flow increase dramatically and we would have more millionaires, billionaires and maybe even another trillionaire when that cash flow moved from the big health care conglomerates to their bottom line, so would the net worth of the 150 million American adults that own public stocks Capitalism is better than socialism because 150m Americans can influence exactly what happens in this country.
Jenni@hashjenni

Capitalism is better than socialism because one man gets to be a trillionaire instead of everyone having healthcare

Since we're doing "billionaires/trillionaires don't literally have that much in their bank account" discourse again: what's the largest *liquid* fortune anyone's ever made? That is, in actual cash, not stock options, or whatever. I could probably ask Google, but this is more fun.
