@Rooflemonger I was thinking of that duck clue... Namor? He's water-based, but flies and has wings. Also, he'd fit in well with a "villain/anti-hero team". He's never been a fighting game character and Arc Sys would probably have a blast adding their own flare to him.

@rive_app What about people learning to use Rive with development? I won't be able to use Rive files in a coding environment anymore?

Pretty sure this issue was my first illustration gig with the talented Jodie Giesz-Ramsay. The team on the mag then were really some of the best.

CC Magazine centrefold from 20 years ago! Back then I was the assistant editor of @CannabisCulture Magazine, and sometimes helped out by appearing in photos too — like this centrefold from issue 56! 💚 From what I’ve heard, this photo was on quite a few grow room walls, watching over a lot of gardens as they grew into fun flowers and medicine for countless people! 🌱🤗 What a wild journey it’s been since then! Do you remember the print editions of CC Magazine, from 1994-2008? Did you have any favourite articles or authors? Let us know about your CC memories! 🙌🏻

@jake_j_jung I find this often true for foreigners who live among their family and in-laws. There’s a lot of subtle mannerisms that people who are single here rarely seem to get.

@AbroadInJapan @MKBHD I wonder how many would prefer a custom-made video "just for them" than most youtube videos today. It's already happened with internet search.

@MKBHD This is getting rather unsettling very quickly. The film industry is going to look very different in the years ahead.

@AdhamDannaway As a control freak, I love them. The con I struggle with is although they're one file, sometimes that one file is larger than two or even three variations of one font.

@GaryWintle A variable font is even better, it means you only need a single font file rather than 2 separate ones for regular and bold weights. What's the main con you've found with variable fonts?

⚡️ UI design tip - Use regular and bold font weights only Just because there are lots of font weights available in a typeface, doesn’t mean you need to use all of them in your designs. Using lots of different font weights can add noise and clutter to your interface. It also makes it more difficult to use each font weight consistently. Keep your design system simple and concise by using regular and bold font weights only. Some typefaces have a semi-bold font option that you can use instead of bold if bold is too heavy. Quick usage tips: ✅ Use bold font weight for headings to emphasise them. ✅ Use regular font weight for other smaller text. ✅ Reserve very thin or thick font weights for headings and larger text, as they can be difficult to read at smaller sizes. In the following example, multiple font weights are used, including light, medium, semi bold and extra bold. It looks cluttered and complex because your eyes need to process so many different font weights 😵‍💫 How many font weights do you generally use? PS This is just 1 of 100+ design guidelines from my @PracticalUi design book 📘

I’m always looking for more trustworthy designers to give work to. I feel like every month I give away hundred of thousands of dollars of work but now all of my go-to designers are all booked up and I don’t plan on doing any extra work. Who can I trust to be a go-to?

The term "UX Design" when I first heard of it YEARS ago never quite sat right with me. The community had this "better than thou" vibe, but it wasn't warranted. They used impressive word salads, but rarely did you ever see their actual work. If you did, you knew most of them didn't actually know how to design a good looking or usable UI. This likely came about as the industry matured, and the FAANGS of the world were hiring specialty roles. But make no mistake about it, I wouldn't trust anyone operating under the term "ux designer" who can't actually design. The research/prototyping/testing that falls under the UX umbrella is not difficult enough to justify a separate job role in most cases. A great UI designer should already have these skills.
