Very cool day for our son Will who is studying in Europe this semester. He is visiting Cologne, Germany and got a picture standing on the steps of the cathedral.  My grandfather George Gates shook General Eisenhower‘s hand there towards the end of World War II.

Mabel left part of a treat in my shoes by the front door. Of course.

@TBoneWFNZ Mabel knew love. Both received it and gave it.

I knew my life would change from the moment we met. I didn’t know the impact that Mabel would have on so many and the connection she would build. She was a 1 of 1 dog. She never played with toys, she never chewed bones, and she only barked 4 or 5 times in 7 years. She didn’t need much. She was content. She just needed love. Mabel was as resilient a dog as you would find. The ultimate survivor. Her foster mom took her to 5 adoption events and nobody wanted her. I’m grateful for that because that gave me time with a once in a lifetime dog. She entered a whole new world for herself and she was terrified but she leaves so loved and we are forever grateful for how many embraced her. Mabel. Forever. 🐾
