It is quite surreal to see our paper on adjunctive antidepressants in bipolar depression in NEJM. Thanks @LakshmiYatham for the opportunity to participate in this trial during my fellowship at UBC.

Very pleased to see this work published in the NEJM. Hope this provides some insights for clinicians on the use of modern antidepressant adjunctive therapy for bipolar disorder, one of the most controversial areas in the field.

Our paper in JAMA Psychiatry showing reduced DAT density and its correlation with severity of manic symptoms in acute mania is the first to identify an abnormality in dopamine cascade that explains increased dopamine activity in mania.
