FYI - weights alone = 21% reduced risk in all cause mortality.
Cardio alone is only sightly better at 25%
The two together are extremely potent with a 46% reduced risk.

"Since you started eating leaner meat and higher carb, aren’t you just losing weight because your total calorie intake is lower?"
Yes. That’s the beauty of it. I feel fuller on fewer calories because fruits and vegetables are so satiating.
A potato is far more filling per calorie than beef fat.

@ElieJarrougeMD the good/bad news about low carb is it improves the situation much faster than long term exercise and weight loss can fix it. possible to do both but tempting to settle.

I used to think run walk was something you only did when you could not run properly yet. Like it meant you were not there. But the more I trained and coached the more I realized it is actually one of the most useful tools you can use at any level.
Most runners treat walking as failure. So they avoid it until they are forced into it. That is the mistake. Walking works best when it is planned not when you are already exhausted.
What this chart is really showing is how to use run walk properly depending on where you are. If you are brand new or coming back, short run and walk intervals help you build consistency without burning out. You are not trying to prove anything you are just teaching your body to handle the rhythm.
Once you can jog a bit longer you extend the run time slightly but you still keep the walk. That is what allows you to build safely instead of jumping too fast and ending up injured or stuck.
Even when you can run thirty minutes easy I still use run walk sometimes. Longer run segments with short walk breaks help you go further without breaking down. It keeps the effort under control and lets you recover just enough to keep moving well.
And this is the part a lot of people miss. Run walk is not just for beginners. I have used it in races too. A simple structure like nine minutes run one minute walk can actually prevent that late race crash that ruins your time.
The key is how you use it. You finish feeling like you could do it again tomorrow. You add small amounts to the run over time instead of removing walking all at once. And you keep the walk breaks planned not reactive.
It feels like stopping means you are losing progress but actually it is what allows you to keep progressing without hitting a wall.
be honest have you been avoiding walk breaks because of how they look or actually using them to train better??
