Delcy Rodríguez and Diosdado Cabello are both justifying the extradition of Alex Saab to the US by saying that he was ‘Colombian, not Venezuelan’. And Che Guevara was Argentinian, not Cuban... would the Cubans have ever given him up? Was the hero of Venezuela, Simón Bolívar, not the one who established Gran Colombia, which was one unified state incorporating modern-day Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Panamá? Did Alex Saab not work to feed the Venezuelan people, who were subjected to starvation sanctions? There is no justification for what these traitors have done to Alex Saab. To use his foreign citizenship as the reason for depriving him of Venezuelan protection is a sickening new low.

An Israeli woman had sex with a man who called himself 'Dudu' (a common Israeli nickname for David). When she learned he was Arab, he was charged with 'rape by deception' — because she claimed wouldn't have had sex with an arab. Israeli courts upheld this racist idea.

In addition to Israel routinely beating, starving, torturing and raping Palestinians in its detention camps, new research by Israel's Physicians for Human Rights reveals that, in 2024, some 200 children were put in total isolation inside tiny punishment cells.

WOW! @Theintercept reviewed more than 12000 print articles and 5000 TV segments to check for biases on Israel-Palestine. I thought it would be bad. I had no idea it was THIS bad. No wonder Gaza killed what little credibility mianstream media had. In NYT, Israel's right to defend itself was invoked 99 times. Only once for Palestine. On CNN and MSNBC, it was invoked 755 times for Israel. But only 8 times for Palestine. Emotive words such as slaughter and massacre were used frequently when Israelis had been killed. They were NEVER used in print when Palestinians were killed. In Ukraine, 262 children were killed in the war, and it was mentioned 4223 times. In Palestine, more than 10,000 children were killed, but it was mentioned only 3632. The full article is in the subtweet. It's a MUST READ:

Saif has been released from israeli captivity and after 6 brutal days, his message is clear - we must continue to mobilize! Still, thousands of Palestinian prisoners are being held hostage in israeli dungeons, subjected to inhumane conditions. We are one small step closer to a free Palestine but our fight is far from over. We must continue to push against empire on all fronts! A heartfelt thank you Saif and Thiago’s legal team at Adalah and to all who mobilized and applied pressure at every level for the safe return of our comrades. Until liberation.

CENTCOM claims it has "disabled" two Iranian ships prior to their "entering an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman in violation of the ongoing U.S. blockade" and that it had "enforced blockade measures ... preventing the non-compliant ships from entering Iran." Only examining the content of the CENTCOM statement itself, it is legally flawed for two reasons: 🔸 Article 89 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) establishes that no State may validly purport to subject any part of the high seas to its sovereignty. It confirms that the high seas are open to all nations and strictly prohibits national appropriation. 🔸 Under int. law, a state generally maintains exclusive jurisdiction only over its own flagged vessels while in int. waters. A state does not have the authority to exercise jurisdiction over vessels belonging to other sovereign nations in these waters. Conclusions: 🔹 The area of the self-constituted U.S. blockade consists of int. waters subject to int. law, not U.S. domestic jurisdiction. Therefore, the US unilateral imposition of a blockade over int. waters is a violation of established int. legal norms. 🔹 Enforcing blockade measures against foreign vessels in international waters constitutes a significant breach of the principle of freedom of navigation. 🔹 Under int. law, the "disabling" of a sovereign vessel in int. waters is unlawful and amounts to an act of war. 🔹 Measures referred to in the CENTCOM statement, moreover, grossly violate the terms of the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the US. ▪ Note: The Strait of Hormuz is comprised entirely of the territorial seas of the coastal states; it contains no areas of high seas for the purposes of navigation.

Breaking: Thiago Avila and Saif Abu Keshek to be released! @AdalahEnglish MEDIA UPDATE: Today, the Shabak Israeli intelligence agency informed Adalah’s legal team that Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) activists and leaders Thiago Ávila and Saif Abukeshek would be released from Israeli detention today, Saturday 9 May 2026. They will be handed to Israel’s immigration authorities later today and kept in custody pending their deportation. Adalah is closely monitoring development to make sure that the release from detention goes ahead, followed by their deportation from Israel in the coming days. Adalah stressed that Ávila and Abukeshek have been held unlawfully by Israel for over a week after being taken into Israeli detention, since the early hours of Thursday, 30 May 2026 when they were abducted by the Israeli navy. Throughout their detention, they were held in total isolation under punitive conditions despite the purely civilian nature of their mission. Both activists have been on a hunger strike since that time, which Abukeshek escalated to refusing water on the evening of 5 May. The activists were abducted from an Italian-flagged vessel, placing them under Italian jurisdiction. The operation is a clear violation of international law. The Italian government has already condemned Israel’s move as illegal.

In 2016, Zack Polanski hosted and spoke at fundraisers for the Red Cross. In 2017, Nigel Farage gave speeches for the AFD, who the German authorities have designated an extremist organisation, and which uses Nazi slogans. Which do you think UK Press is attacking right now?

One of my most popular articles ever included a long extract from a powerful closing speech by barrister Rajiv Menon during a Palestine Action trial in January. In the end, the jury refused to convict the six defendants. Menon is now on trial for that closing speech – for reminding the jury that they had a 350-year-old right in law to follow their conscience in reaching a verdict, even if it meant defying a direction from the judge to convict. Paradoxically, Menon joked in his speech that, because of that earlier legal principle, the judge, unlike his counterpart in 1670, could not lock them, the jurors, up were they to choose to follow their consciences. Instead, the judge is seeking to lock up the barrister. Does 2026 qualify as an improvement on 1670? It is believed that this is the first time a barrister has been tried for comments made to a jury in his closing speech. That should serve as a potent reminder of just us how authoritarian the current political moment is, and of how quickly long-established legal rights are being dismantled to protect British collusion in genocide. Read my article – and the part of the speech for which Menon is being tried – here: jonathan-cook.net/blog/2026-01-1…
