@Super_Saiko77 @Roseeettttrflc I'm pretty sure the hadith you are referencing was about Thabit ibn Qais's divorce. From what i've read about him he beat his wife which at one point resulted in her breaking her arm. Divorce in Islam is seen as the very last resort.

@flamestridr @Super_Saiko77 As a Muslim in America, yes it is basically cultural. When I was in High School I knew 2 Catholics practicing Lent out of hundreds (predominantly catholic school). Along with that general sinning and stuff was normalized.

@flamestridr Scholars also say (depending on the madhab) that a woman can put inside of a marriage contract that the husband will not marry another woman and he will not be able to do so.

Just because its not an obligation doesn’t mean its right. You are obligated to be nice to your wife and not treat her like a slave by respecting her and treating her like a human. Islam honored women, don’t think of us as your slaves or maids.

Islamically, it’s not even an obligation for a husband to inform his wife when taking another wife. As a Muslim man, you can wake up tomorrow and marry another wife without your first wife’s knowledge. She can find out after the wedding.

There's actually no particular rule against depicting Muhammad, it only became "something you never do" over time as Muslims badly reacted to orientalist / hateful depictions of him and a taboo developed around depicting him at all
