Nearly two decades have passed since a Canadian Foreign Minister last visited Pakistan. Since then, bilateral trade has grown, Canada’s commercial interests have expanded and new opportunities have emerged to work together on regional security and economic growth. At Canada’s High Commission in Islamabad, I planted a commemorative tree to mark this renewed engagement and the growing ambition behind our relationship. I also had the opportunity to thank the Canadian and locally engaged staff whose dedication and expertise advance Canada’s interests in Pakistan every day.

I’m a Canadian citizen and have been a Liberal supporter. I want to know why the Liberal Party @liberal_party and @AnitaAnandMP are engaging with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar while his regime is actively involved in the transnational repression of Canadian citizens. Is @AnitaAnandMP out of her mind? The Foreign Minister of Canada, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on the Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Islamabad today. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral relations between Pakistan and Canada were discussed.
