🇺🇸🇮🇷 The U.S. is desperately trying to prevent Iran from rebuilding its nuclear programme while needing to get it back to the negotiating table to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The problem is that one of Iran's most important remaining nuclear facilities is believed to be buried too deep for even America's most powerful conventional bunker-buster bombs to reliably destroy.
That has led some analysts to discuss a possibility that until recently would have been almost unthinkable: a U.S. tactical nuclear strike.
The greatest danger wouldn't necessarily be Iran's immediate retaliation.
It would be breaking an almost 80-year taboo on the use of nuclear weapons.
That precedent wouldn't stay in the Middle East.
Russia has repeatedly threatened nuclear escalation during the war in Ukraine but has so far stopped short of crossing that line.
Part of that restraint comes from the enormous political cost of being the first country since 1945 to use a nuclear weapon in war.
If the U.S crosses that line first, it's easier for others to follow.
It becomes far harder for Washington and its allies to argue that Russia must never do something they have already done themselves.
A tactical nuclear strike might solve one military problem in Iran.
But it could also make nuclear weapons politically usable again in every future war that involves a rival with nuclear capabilities.

Russian satellites have approached ICEYE spacecraft, which are used to assist the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to orbit tracking services, Russian "Kosmos" series spacecraft (2609-2614) have altered their trajectories and moved into the same orbital plane as the Finnish ICEYE satellites, which are used for radar imaging.
It is reported that such maneuvers may allow for tracking the satellites and potentially interfering with them, including through the use of electronic warfare means.
Russia now has a new type satellite that has ability to decommission in orbit multiple satellites known as the " SHREDDER!"

Elizabeth Waffle, 88, was forced to move into a shabby trailer two years ago after her house burned down. She owns an old pickup truck but no computer. Nevertheless, Waffle, who lives on a modest pension, is a true believer in liberal causes and continues to make small political donations by way of ActBlue—the Democrat online fundraising platform. But somehow, those few dozen small donations she has made over the past five years have transmogrified into 14,696 donations totaling more than $150,000—the equivalent of eight donations a day, every day for the past five years, averaging $9.18. “One hundred and fifty thousand?” Waffle said with real surprise. “Hell no. I don’t have that kind of money.” She says she has contributed to Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Socialist running for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat, but not 47 times spanning the last two years, as federal filings show. Stevens has also taken ActBlue money. As has Slotkin, Whitmer, Nessel, Benson, Gilchrist, and the entire Democrat gang. But it is Abdul who plays the sanctimony card.
