Fair point. But there’s a key difference worth noting. Indigenous peoples in the Americas and Antipodes were displaced by colonial force and lost sovereignty over their own lands. The English, French, and Spanish never faced that. The term exists not just to describe who was ‘first’ but to acknowledge who was forcibly displaced. Context matters more than labels.

If one is to use the term “First Nations” or “Indigenous Peoples” or “Native Americans” in the Americas and Antipodes, then, in fairness, it should also apply to English, French, Spanish and other such peoples in Europe

I’m no great fan of the ACA. I believe we should guarantee health care as a human right through a single-payer Medicare for All system. But — at minimum — we cannot allow Republicans to destroy our already-broken system by doubling insurance premiums for 20 million Americans.

Roughly 275,000 federal workers lost their jobs this week. That's over 10% of the federal workforce. ~75,000 took the "buyout" ~200,000 probationary workers were let go (the WH has not confirmed the total, but this is how many were on probationary status) That's a lot of lives upended. And many gov't services will be impacted. While most organizations can survive a 10% cut, keep in mind these cuts were not even across the gov't. Many agencies hit hard in Trump's first term are being decimated now.
