Did you know that in 2022, Geneticks detected Babesia odocoilei in 10% of blacklegged ticks submitted from Ontario, and in similar or higher prevalences in Quebec and Atlantic Canada? This makes B. Odocoilei the second most common pathogen detected in blacklegged ticks in Canada.

Found feeding on a dog in August, #TickSpotters confirmed the first occurrence of an Asian longhorned tick in MA, the 18th state invaded. This type of tick doesn’t need a male to lay fertile eggs making it an extremely efficient invader. bit.ly/citizenscience…
