"The province".
I don't know what kind of a cringing wretch you would have to be as a Scot voting for this.
Barry Crisp MSP@FashFinderUK
Lots of love for Reform UK on the doorstep here in Scotland. The province looks set for a Reform landslide win at the Holyrood election in May. We'll get it back!

It's naw a dug, it's a whippet! Greyhound racing to be banned
Greyhound racing is to be outlawed in Scotland with MSPs set to pass a ban. The sport faces extinction after Scotland's last track - Thornton Stadium in Kirkcaldy, Fife - closed last year.
Animal welfare campaigners said the proposed legislation would stop greyhounds being maimed and killed, but critics called it a needless bill that would not improve animal welfare.
The Scottish Parliament vote comes 24 hours after the Welsh Senedd backed a similar ban.
The Prohibition of Greyhound Racing (Scotland) Bill, external, tabled by Green MSP Mark Russell, will make it an offence to allow a greyhound to compete on an oval racetrack in Scotland, with a maximum prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of up to £20,000.
It is set to pass after the government dropped its opposition to the bill, with a vote scheduled for 22:00.
In a brief debate ahead of the vote, Ruskell told MSPs: "Racing greyhounds at up to speeds of 40pmh around an oval track results in catastrophic injuries and deaths.
"Dogs break their legs, break their backs, end up paralysed and with serious head trauma."
The MSP insisted greyhound racing was not a "harmless hobby enterprise", and added that Scotland "cannot be left behind" as other countries have banned the sport.

@Grouse_Beater You lost, get over it!!! Doctors already do assisted dying.

Assisted Dying Bill loses will to live
10.30pm: Bill defeated 69 votes to 57.
Much of the anti-argument was emotive and embarrassingly illogical, with people worried about their consciences, (self-interest) and not of those in chronic dire distress, (empathy for others). Pure and simple, the Bill was talked down by shallow argument. Good old MSPs.

@STVNews I grew up in Niddrie over 50 years ago and I have never had a posh accent since moving away (still in Edinburgh BTW).

@joannaccherry I'll read the reviews but if there is no blaming, I'll not buy it. 😁👍

The hypocrisy is incredible. In my experience the SNP Westminster Group & NEC were far from respectful workplaces. Complaints of bullying or harassment were ignored unless they could be weaponised against those seen as a threat to the leadership. 1/2

@heraldscotland Mibee ask Glasow why they had to take both out for inspection at the same time. NUMPIES!!!😁👍
English

“In 2023, John Swinney and the SNP cut the number of specially designed engines called High Reach Appliances, or HRAs, from 26 to just 16 for the whole of Scotland. In Glasgow, we saw six appliances cut to two.
“And now it is believed that both of Glasgow's HRAs were not available on Sunday due to annual inspection.

@mjyharris Lovely picture!!!
Just a shame that when Lossiemouth won, Richie Rich (deliberate mistake 😁) had a hug with everyone, except Julie.
Happy to be proved wrong .

I was quite a long way away from this but what a connection. This is Lossiemouth and Julie in the saddling boxes in the pre-parade prior to the Champion Hurdle. We are all horse lovers. We all worry about their safety in this sport, but can you imagine what it must be like if you work with these horses and see them every day, love and look after them from a young age, and just worship the ground they walk on. The worry when they go out to race must be immense. Julie leans forwards, her head resting on Lossiemouth’s head, and it’s a time for them both to show that trust and that bond that will never be broken. Beautiful.

In 2008, Iceland did something unthinkable: they let their banks die. While America scrambled to save "too big to fail" institutions, this tiny Nordic island told their three largest banks to pound volcanic sand.
The immediate aftermath was brutal. The krona collapsed 50% overnight. ATMs ran dry. And the entire country—population 320,000—found itself effectively bankrupt on the international stage.
But here's the twist no economist saw coming: Iceland recovered faster than any other crisis-hit nation. By 2012, their economy was growing again while Europe wallowed in endless bailout cycles. They jailed 26 bankers, restructured household debt, and rebuilt from actual ground up.
Meanwhile, we're still dealing with zombie banks propped up by endless Fed liquidity injections. Sometimes the "radical" solution is just letting capitalism work.
