@MalSamuel228622 @SBarrettBar No University is run by a council. Sounds like you have an axe to grind about Labour, higher education establishments and are wearing a tin foil hat. Do you understand what that means or should I draw you a diagram?
English

@GeogMonkey @SBarrettBar I’m saying that the University was run by a Labour council.
And one can only wonder what other UK Universities are teaching Terrorists.
Many of whom are on free Scholarships issued by Labour Governments!
Do you understand what I’m saying now, or should I draw you a diagram? 😁
English

@MalSamuel228622 @SBarrettBar So are you saying British Universities shouldn’t teach rocket science to future rocket scientists on a rocket science course?
English

@GeogMonkey @SBarrettBar I think you’d have to ask the Counter Terrorism unit about that one.
The Internet is policed by many organisations and certain books are controlled.
And yet we see UK Universities teaching this kind of thing.
And possibly to Sleeper agents in the UK?
So, go figure!
English

@MalSamuel228622 @SBarrettBar Was it a BSc in Rocket Science? Should we ban ‘Arabs’ from certain degrees?
English

@SBarrettBar Yes, I can believe it.
When I was at Uni’ they were teaching students how to make rockets and mixing the fuel to propel them.
(Dipsticks!)
The fact that we had 3 Arabs on the course didn’t faze them.
I mentioned it to Counter Terrorism officers and they said, “Whaaat!” 😳
English

@dylanwiliam @Principal_Jon Let’s be honest they don’t like teachers who are strict
English

People like this should be banned from having children

@meowinghobbes @JacobEdwardInc Very few teachers have a B.Ed. I’m talking secondary by the way. Most have subject specific degrees (many Masters level).
English

@GeogMonkey @JacobEdwardInc "Expert"
I disagree.
A Bachelor of Education doesn't mean they are a Master of Science or Ph.D.
B.Ed. is a generalist degree.
Higher education fine... but not our school systems.
English

90% of what I learned from 1st to 12th grade was useless and/or forgotten.
School taught me that reading and learning sucks, because everything that school forced me to read and learn about, sucked.
It wasn’t until I was out of school, that I actually fell in love with learning.
This is something I keep thinking about as my kids enter school age…
English

@meowinghobbes @JacobEdwardInc That’s the brilliant part of schools you see. Lots of different experts all in one place.
English

@GeogMonkey @JacobEdwardInc Dont tell me any Elementary to High school teacher is an expert in these fields either.
English

@JacobEdwardInc @meowinghobbes And you think it’s reasonable to assume that a ‘normal’ parent is an expert in English Literature and art and physics?
English

@GeogMonkey @meowinghobbes I’m just assuming kids have normal parents that would do this, instead of parking them in front of Nickelodeon, MTV, etc.
English

@JacobEdwardInc @meowinghobbes Education is also about trying to change the inequality of opportunity that exists. There’s a multitude of reasons why parents are unable to provide these skills and opportunities.
English

@JacobEdwardInc @meowinghobbes Critical thinking, analysis, the skills of evaluation based around a framework of core knowledge selected by experts. What’s not to like? How can young people realise they love Shakespeare, the history of art, the beauty of quantum physics unless someone introduces them to it?
English

@meowinghobbes Math, basic science concepts like the scientific method, reading, and writing… Beyond that nothing is necessary.

I’m not a fan of Starmer, but whatever he does – literally whatever he does - he is ripped apart, ripped to shreds, by the telegraph, Mail, express, Sun, spectator, the very same people who installed Boris Johnson and the appalling Liz Truss.
The same people who installed the governments that caused Brexit and the financial chaos that has ensued, the same people who have driven this country into the ground.
I’m sick to death of them.
They are the biggest threat to this country and all of us across the board, no matter what our politics are. We need to get billionaires out of the Media

@mattwridley Funny how all the fearmongering about earthquakes goes quiet when the fracking is for geo-thermal.

This is the core of the problem, worldwide.
Single-age bins on the factory curriculum teacher-text production line.
Inefficiency & unproductiveness is built into the paradigm & the child’s inherent motivation is constrained.

@npwint74 @Miss_Snuffy So we have more rapes, stabbings and lack of respect than other countries (and particularly the US)? I think statistics might prove you wrong. But why let facts get in the way.
English

@GeogMonkey @Miss_Snuffy Read it again, I said “I’d say” which kind of implies it’s an opinion, but as you ask
Rapes, stabbings and no respect for authority it’s just a few things that stand out. Oh and the hate for the British way of life
English

Such a disgrace. And then some of the comments! 😳
Do we not understand what makes a community and a country?!
Decency and respect.
Police officers doing their jobs and this is how we treat them?! 🤯
What on earth has the US become?😮Sadly, we aren’t that far behind.

@npwint74 @Miss_Snuffy Any evidence to back up this claim?

@Jackkk Teaching is unrecognisable compared to how it was a generation ago. Real learning, learning that sticks and then can be applied, is a complex process and this can’t happen effectively by (just) watching YouTube videos.
English

MrBeast explains why the education system is completely broken
“Why are students today being taught the same way their parents were? Look at how much everything else has advanced. When I was in school the teacher would just stand there, read out of a book and write on a whiteboard”
"Now look at Mark Rober’s videos. You can learn complex topics in 20 minutes in a way that’s engaging, fun and you retain it. Just because our parents were taught one way doesn’t mean we need to keep teaching that same way. It makes no sense to me, I think education should be reformed dramatically”
“Students spend so much time in school. If we had real courses made through videos, made learning more hands on and optimised everything with modern technology, kids could probably learn more in 5 hours than they currently do in 8 hours"
English
