Do academics typically include research presentations (of varying lengths) that were given as part of a university job interview to their CV as invited talks? @AcademicChatter

@Don_Curiel Yes! Field studies are sometimes told the data are just descriptive or correlative and models give real processed-based info. But…what if models are poorly grounded in insights from…um…field data. Which are expensive, difficult, time consuming, and messy. And necessary.

@coreyspowell I have to think more about anthro- vs psycho-, but after reading this I am in total agreement it should end -zoic rather than -cene. We are definitely in a new era…not an epoch.

@mwallenstein The history of soil science, similar to the history of the US, has been told through an incomplete lens, obfuscating & purposefully removing contributions of Indigenous peoples & other groups persistently excluded & marginalized from the dominant narrative doi.org/10.1002/saj2.2…

@liznorell @AlyssaMandel A professor colleague used to do this and ended up axing student-chosen grades because after years they noticed overwhelmingly white males were selecting As and women were hesitant to grade themselves as high.

Here is a lab lab! Our lab here needs to wear PPE just like the people doing the science. He is the service dog of a student in a chemistry professor's lab. (Shared with permission.)
