@KirstieMAllsopp I don’t think children under 8 should have access to iPads. I certainly don’t think they should be watching them during a meal. When I took my children out I talked to them, played games Never did it cross my mind to give them technology. still have a no tech at the table rule.

I’m staying in a hotel in Switzerland, just had breakfast next to an English couple with one child, probably aged 5, he ate his breakfast watching an iPad on the table in front of him. I know this topic is a dangerous one but when are people gong to wake up to how wrong this is?

@englishspecial Interesting how? How will a mass produced content driven curriculum produce well rounded learners who are capable of transferring skills and knowledge gained?

Interesting to read Ofsted inspectors clearly favouring purchased schemes of work over those developed by a school.

@richardpbacon I can’t believe that it won’t be live anymore. I grew up with Blue Peter and was lucky enough to appear on it with Yvette Fielding, Mark Curry and the beautiful Caron Keating. They were lovely. The show was amazing. Sad times.

Blue Peter’s last ever live show was Today. Apparently, it will carry on online pre-recorded. I love and loved that show. Even if caused it some bother. Being live is what made it alive. The elephant, the studio catching fire. The mistakes, the movement, the energy. At 21, hosting live in TV Centre’s vast studios was wonderful. 1st day rehearsing, I remember walking from one side of the studio to the other - doing a piece to camera - and seeing the whole crew, five cameras, and another on a crane, track with me. I know that doesn’t sound like much - but the first time it happened it was mind blowing. It was just a big, well-made, lovingly made, really well resourced Live kids TV show. That had been live in that building for decades. It was a magical experience (for, you know, all of 20 months).

Should OfSTED inspectors be required to have at least two years of experience as a substantive headteacher? What do you think?

@PencoedCompHead Yes most definitely. Currently doing a leadership course and have brilliant examples from my own settings of managers who lead - yes also leaders who manage but there is a difference - a positive one.
