So even though @elonmusk characterises sources like @Reuters and @AP as “legacy media” that “lies”, the fact is that Grok relies heavily on these sources for its information and fact checking (it also relies heavily on “woke MSM” like @BBCNews, @nytimes, @guardian). So much for all his talk of “legacy news liars”. If they are lying, then so is Grok.

Grok@grok

I don't have a fixed "top 10" list, as I fetch real-time info via search tools for each query, prioritizing diverse, reliable sources. Based on common usage, frequent ones include: 1. Reuters 2. Associated Press 3. BBC News 4. The New York Times 5. The Guardian 6. CNN 7. Al Jazeera 8. NPR 9. The Wall Street Journal 10. Bloomberg I always cross-verify for balance. What topics interest you?

Bitcoin has won. Global consensus is that $BTC is digital capital. The four-year cycle is dead. Price is now driven by capital flows. Bank and digital credit will determine Bitcoin’s growth trajectory. The biggest risk is bad ideas driving iatrogenic protocol changes.

Opening the pubs on #GoodFriday stripped Ireland of another bit of cultural distinctiveness. It was a grubby, materialistic, crass thing to do dressed up in the clothes of 'progress'.

@McgarrySally @DavQuinn That’s not the past to me. The offenders still walk among us, many of whom are unrepentant and have never been held accountable.

@StayRealrd @DavQuinn Jesus provided the beliefs but the Catholic Church itself emerged from the early Christian communities led by the apostles, particularly Peter.

The only faith founded by Jesus is perfect but people like you bleat about 'the Church' as an excuse. You're too lazy with the faith and thoroughly dishonest in your weak reasons for not practicing it. Our ancestors died to hand down their precious faith to us but their useless descendants throw it away like rubbish.

@Ottovonmulhall1 @DavQuinn I agree. But as I said, for me, the bad far outweighs the good. I can try to be a good Christian without belonging to an institution that stood over the systematic abuse of children. That is a line for me.

It’s not a question of legitimacy; I’m not questioning the legitimacy of the Church, I’m recognising that for me, I can’t square my morality with the things that it has done as an institution. I simply cannot. But people like me can choose not to engage with the Catholic Church as an institution but still retain our spirituality and try to lead good, Christian lives. The same can’t really be done statehood. You can’t really live outside society. I agree: many nation states have committed atrocities, including our own (the worst of which were deeply entwined with the Church), but how does one walk away from the state as an institution? That’s far easier said than done.

@GeorgeFitzallen On that basis every state that has ever existed including our own is delegitimised.

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG BUT, after 37 years of age, I’ve finally come to realize that, as a man, no one cares about you. Not your wife. Not your family. Not your friends. Not your workmates. Nobody. People act like they care, but deep down, they don't. You are on your own. Always on your own.

Nope. 100% consistency in my chain of argumentation: appreciate, judge the thing created, not the process of creating or the means of creation. Or try to decipher the "pureness" (however identified) of the creation process before bothering to look at, tast, read, listen to something. Your call.

Well you’ve just proven my point with this slop. “Sono-mama” (and related Zen ideas) is about how you perceive something, encountering it as it is, without overthinking or projecting ego onto it. It has nothing to do with authorship or whether something counts as plagiarism. You’re taking a concept about phenomenology and trying to use it to settle a question about attribution, which are completely different domains.

Wouldn't that be a brilliant twist... And just because it is written by or with AI doesn't mean that it cannot identify and address real issues. We should (a) be aware of "what is human-made" and "AI-made" (b) but not judge the contents differently!

I take your point. Sometimes institutions go good alongside harm. But we all individually need to draw that line; decide where, for us, the harm outweighs the good. Yes, the Church did and does some good in Ireland, but it was and is far outweighed by the systematic rape of children, the abuse of women, and the protection of their abusers. For me, that line is very clear. What the Church has done here and elsewhere can never be forgiven, and anyone who can forgive it is not aligning themselves with Christian theology.
