I feel like the results of the Devers trade, last year’s deadline, and now a 2-8 start is 101 of how a GM gets fired. John Henry would have to care about his baseball team to do that though so I doubt that happens.

@tylermilliken_ They have a number of decent hitters, but no one who really scares you. Plus they are singles hitters so you have to put together several hits to get runs. Gonna be a challenge.

As satisfying as Opening Day was, Game 2 of 2026 was extremely frustrating. Sonny Gray put you in a hole early. Couple of big defensive mistakes were the difference. Misused the ABS Challenges early and it cost you badly. Also, CB Bucknor was just straight up garbage. 2-for-14 with RISP was too reminiscent of last year from the offense. Especially in extras.

There is a calmness and control of the broadcast that make the weight of big games the main event.

They paid a ton, but ABC/ESPN changed the feel of their games by bringing in Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

Abreu somewhat foolishly cut off Rafaela, but did make the catch. Red Sox three outs away from winning Game 1.

@ChrisCotillo I don’t get all the surprise. The offense is a lot of 4a batters against a quality pitched. Add Duran versus a lefty and the May version of Trevor Story it is a tough watch

Kristian Campbell will not be promoted by the Red Sox as a Sept. 1 call-up, according to two sources. That doesn’t mean he won’t be promoted at some point in September as one of the extra two on the roster but not right now
