We are celebrating 🥂. Here’s a post I didn’t think I would be writing. Since the turn of the year, my Boy has been making some progress. He hadn’t been able to ask for anything for 5 years, but slowly he started to request certain food, books, gifts, a phone and some clothes.
These were all big wins but he remained unable to wash, dress or leave the house since his very sudden onset of PANS PANDAS in Feb 2020. I knew that these were the big changes needed in order to restart his life.
In the past few weeks he’s started to talk to his Mom about going out. He really wants a new passport so he can travel but his old one expired years ago.
He researched where to go to get a new photo. Then, out of the blue this week he called upstairs to his Mom from the front door that he was going out to the Supermarket and for a walk.
He had showered, dressed and cut his own hair and proceeded to go out. I can’t imagine the bravery it took to do that having not set foot outside the door for years. He was in good spirits and seemed happy and calm when he left.
He was gone for 2 hours ! He got passport photos, walked around the neighbourhood and stopped to have a coffee at Costa ! That barista at Costa is only the 3rd person in 5 years who he has spoken to and let see his face !
He came home to his Moms happy and smiling. He said it was crazy how many cars were on the roads and he didn’t like the Supermarket because there were so many people. But, he did it, bravely, with a smile on his face and was calm.
The big 3 things holding him back, all tackled and defeated in one morning approx 1,900 days after he last was able to do any of them.
I am incredibly emotional and so proud of him.
Then, he let his Mom see his passport photos. She sent a screenshot over to me and I’ve seen his face for the first time in 5 years. He looks so handsome, hair is darker but still has his beautiful blue eyes. I can’t explain how hard it’s been not seeing his face in so long, and now I’ve seen it and it’s overwhelming.
So yes, we’re celebrating. There is still so much for us all to do and I’m of course desperate to have contact with him and see him in person, but after so long, I’m patient as I am now confident it will come.
So, happy a Sunday to you all, this is my happiest for 5 years and the joy I have had this weekend in updating all of his loved ones has been wonderful.
Many of you on here have always said this day would come, but I wasn’t sure, so thank you for the unswerving positivity and support.
I love you Son and I’m more proud of you and your strength than ever ❤️

@richardosman George Clarke is definitely the best in this field in my opinion. I used to watch LLL but the presenters are too insufferable IRL. The one Damon from Brookside does is good even if just for his hilarious dramatic pauses when he reveals the profit (or loss.)
Gang, I'm going to talk about property-selling shows on the podcast next week. Ones with actual estate agents, Homes Under Hammer/Selling Sunset/Parisian Agency/Escape to Country etc rather than Grand Designs/Your Home Made Perfect. What are your top 3?
I'm off to London on Tuesday, to go and draw at the Natutal History Museum, before going to watch Moulin Rouge. Any suggestions on places to eat and cute bookshops near by?
For anyone interesting in gelli printing, here’s a short video that I made to show how I make simple transfer prints(using an b+w laser copy image)Apologies for my really dodgy voiceover, but it was quicker than typing the instructions😂
In 2021 I did the sketchbook exchange 'Sketchbook Circle'. I found it a valuable way of fitting in art-making whilst teaching. You have until the end of this month to sign up if this is something of interest. Find out more here:

@anon_opin I don't know why Twitter so often feels like everyone on it but me is in the UK, but I've just learned apparently y'all have a thing about flat roofed pubs? And pubs named after silverware apparently. 🥄
Over the years, pubs have branched off into several distinct different types of establishment and the singular term is no longer very useful. We need more descriptive names so you know what to expect before walking through the door
Looking forward to presenting in person next Saturday on the empowering qualities of quiet ways. ‘The Quiet Learner of the Art Classroom’ has much to teach all educators on engagement within the realms of teaching and learning. #iJADE@NSEAD1
