@RichieHayes2 #HateSpeech law will drive the racists underground. If there are people out there spreading hatred, we need to know who they are - and to open a conversation with them, not shut them up.

Someone suggested I, as a "settled" person, should intervene in the Dublin inner city gangland feuds - which would be not only bizarre but pointless as I'm not part of those communities.

Good to hear John Connors using his influence to call on fellow Travellers to instil decency in the rogue elements of their community. A few years ago I suggested this to him & some of his followers took offence.gript.ie/john-connors-u…)

@NewstalkFM Marmite broadcaster - which is the hallmark of a great one, and he also has the perfect speaking voice. My mother and I listen to his show when we can and are glad he's not actually leaving the airwaves.

@ClydeDonnelly99 @griptmedia Whatever about private pensions (which are a gamble), state pensions shouldn't be paid from tax; it sows resentment between young & old, and everyone knows their PRSI wouldn't fund even an impoverished retirement. Ireland’s natural resources should be harnessed and invested.

@griptmedia Two major flaws in this report. 1) How is our population going to decline by 2050? Is there some policy change on the horizon? 2) No mention at all of the effects of AI and robotics, which will break the link between population size and economic output. See Larry Fink at Davos.

Dublin city's most beautiful shopping centre and longtime hangout of "tribes" (goths, punks, artists). I set a chapter of my novella unRIP in the iconic St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. To save it from destruction please sign this petition c.org/y7SqvX5Tcr via @Change

@KayBurley That's both the creepiest and oddly (inappropriately) funniest thing I've seen for a long time. A nightmarish image with just a touch of Steampunk and an air of menace.

@ciaranmullooly He was a very talented, hard-working and ethical journalist, and on a personal level kind and witty. Also did a lot for St Vincent de Paul and had a great idea to set up a self-build project to help solve the housing crisis. I often thought he should have run for election.

@JohnKennyMedia @rtenews He was such a kind, decent, witty guy, and a talented, hard-working, ethical journalist with loads of great ideas. I worked with him when we were both junior reporters on a local paper (the Bray People).

@katress @Teslaconomics It is by choice for me. It's a nasty post by someone who clearly has led a very sheltered life (or is lying). I doubt the anonymous poster is a parent. Plenty of parents abuse their own children and / or see kids as future sources of free labour.

Thanks for the reminder. I’m not childless by choice. It’s the most painful part of everything that’s been taken from me. Posts like this, while they mean well, completely neglect that there’s an entire pocket of people who could be exposed to it for whom this “saddest life possible” is an inescapable reality. Respectfully, fuck you.

A childless life is one of the saddest lives a person can live. It’s sad bc you miss out on one of the greatest forms of happiness a human can ever experience. This is the kind of joy that doesn’t come from $, status, or freedom. Rather, this pure joy comes from loving someone more than yourself. And also there’s a deeper thing of not having kids. Your story, your values, your genetics, all the things that make you unique, don’t get carried forward. Having kids is a bet on the future. It’s like saying, I think tomorrow is worth investing in. But when you choose not to, you’re opting out of the future you could’ve helped shape. This is the kind of happiness, which imo is the highest level of happiness a human can feel, that only exists when you have kids. Being human is awesome. Make more beautiful humans. Have kids. You will never feel ready, and I promise, you won’t regret it.

Fianna Fail leadership bloodbaths are the stuff of Old Hollywood, full of macho threats. The wake (!) of the Presidential campaign, as described in by John Drennan in today's @irishdailymail, is not so much Michael Martin as Martin Scorcese!

Wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t foreshadowing & Jasmine or Zoe’s son (who’s probably going to be her stalker) is killed at Christmas or shortly afterwards. The way only 1 forget-me-not is planted & Zoe only thought one survived originally #Eastenders

@MiriamOCal Reeling in the Years is brilliant. It should be prescribed by mental health practitioners to boost memory, release positive emotions and help people of all ages bond. Genius to put the soundtrack of each year with the news footage. I see that other channel has done a rip-off.
