I had the honour to present to the RPs at the @CoE in Strasbourg the 🇩🇪 candidate for GREVIO, Dr. Petra Volke. She is a very competent expert in family law, worked as judge at Family courts, @ECHR + 🇩🇪Federal Constitutional Court.

Four years into Russia’s full-scale war, thousands of Ukrainian children are still separated from their families. Their fate must be our priority. My Special Envoy for children of Ukraine, @thordiskolbrun, and our partners are bringing the cause of these children to the world. They must be brought home, their traumas healed, and accountability prevail.

2/ 🇩🇪 🇵🇱 🇬🇧 RPs organised together an event with the movie "The Zone of Interest" in the CoE. As 🇩🇪 RP we participated in the "Marche pour la mémoire de la Shoah" in Strasbourg, organised by the Jewish community.

A strong start to the first @PACE_NEWS session of 2026: honoured to receive MOJ Hubig’s signature, on behalf of Germany, of the @coe Convention for the Protection of the Profession of Lawyer. Without independent lawyers, there is no real access to justice — and no rule of law.

The Federal Minister for Justice and Consumer Protection, Dr Stefanie Hubig, signed for Germany as 26th country the Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of the Profession of Lawyer (CETS No. 226).

One year has passed since journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli’s arbitrary arrest in Georgia. Committed to safeguarding media freedom, we reiterate our call on Georgian authorities to release Mzia as well as others unjustly detained.

The secondment programm to the Secretariat, three country offices, the ECHR and the RoD for Ukraine is also important voluntary assistance that the Secretary General has acknowledged.

In addition, Germany has supported the Ukraine Solidarity Fund of the @COEbanknews with 1.5 million EUR for a micro-aid winter program. Germany also contributes approximately EUR 360,000 to the Human Rights Trust Fund.

With 14 million EUR in voluntary funding for 2025, Germany is by far the biggest voluntary supporter of the @coe. Defending the common values is our goal. SG Alain Berset paid specific tribute to this contribution. coe.int/en/web/program…
