@PGATOUR @cjbyronnelson Good win and final round but 5 or 6 different guys shot 62 or better in a round and double that shot 63 or better. He had 2 bogeys and 2 eagles and 28 birdies in 72 holes. Fair or unfair stats like that end up diminishing a performance more than anything else.

@CaseyTaylor520 @KylePorterNS Agree. The best rules are the least subjective and not open to interpretation and it’s not as easy as saying its bad rule. B/c sometimes rules that end up unfair or advantageous are the best u can do in resolving the overall situtation. Like a ball on a sprinkler head.

But your proposed “rule” creates way more subjectivity and inconsistency. “Doesn’t improve the lie” is impossible to define consistently, is first cut better than deep rough? Wet rough vs dry fairway? Uphill vs flat? Ect. The current rule is pretty damn objective, nearest point of complete relief, no closer to the hole. Everyone plays by the same standard.

I realize golf people who know a lot more about the game than I do will disagree with this (and I'm sure there are 100 reasons I'm wrong about it), but it remains *insane* to me that a ball hit into deep rough off the tee can then be hit from a clean lie in the fairway. "Well we know the QB's knee was technically down, but because he slipped on some paint from the logo at midfield, we're going to let you replay the down."

Because you are talking like you have a say or have a stake in the decisions for personal gain. If so fine but It would be nice to know if thats the case.

Four other golfers are too. Some guys don’t want to play three straight weeks ending with a major. This is not a story (or a new phenomenon).

If every player skipped tournaments to go play and practice on the major courses for that year you’d have second and third rate competition every week. Used to be favorite but now u have guys shooting 80 on the front (combined 18 holes for two days) who make few birdies on the back for 75 and make the cut? Wtf is that? They do because the field sux at the bad end

Watching @TheMasters and seeing so few players long enough to go for 13 &15 now has taken away so much excitement and intrigue to the back nine. Another example of how longer isn’t always better.

Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm certainly fooled me. Apparently, playing well on LIV Golf doesn't mean you're playing well.

@Daniel_Rapaport DJ, Cam Smith and Rahm were top 5 to 15 players when they left and Dechambeau and Koepka were injured but top 20. 11 major championships combined at the time with every player in their 20‘s and 30’s. These are top players so judge them as such. Then look at their Majors since.

Everyone quick to blame LIV when their guys have a bad Thursday at the Masters. What about when Tyrrell Hatton ties for the lead? Or when LIV players won majors in 2023 and 2024? I thought we put the LIV-guys-can't-play-majors narrative to bed years ago?

Patrick Reed winning the Masters and getting 5 years of exemptions into majors would all but guarantee his return to LIV.
