Have a friend who has a Section 8 tenant who stopped paying her portion of the rent. Then she moved to another unit, in someone else's property, so HUD stopped paying my friend. So he leaves a Belief of Abandonment notice on her door. Get this. A few days later, she writes back: "I have not abandoned my unit." So she's just holding on to an empty unit for fun. She has a new apartment! So he reached out to her S8 supervisor: "Can you help? Maybe put pressure on her to just move out. Can you threaten to revoke her voucher?" The response they basically gave him: "Put pressure on this innocent lady? For simply not paying rent and not giving you back the keys to an empty unit? Sir, please, move along. This is a Wendy's." He's out close to $20,000 in legal fees and lost rent at this point. He'll get the unit back eventually, but what the hell is going on here?

A twenty year old car is a lot less beater now than a twenty year old car was in the mid 2000s

Every new car in the U.S. will be required by law to have tech that puts constant surveillance on the driver by 2027. AI in your car will determine if you're sober and fit to drive, automatically turning off the vehicle if it determines you're a danger on the road.
