The lab was happy to see an old friend, Dr. Zhen Ma, who was one of the group's original graduate students to make the move from Texas A&M to IU! After a post-doc with @JohnHelmann, Zhen moved to industry where he currently works at Merck studying Bacillus expression systems.

Dr. Britta Rued, our former @IUBiology Ph.D. student, will start her independent faculty position at @ISUVetMed in August 2024. Britta was an @IUQCB trainee and is a K99 awardee with Prof. Michael Federle’s group at @UICPharm. reporter.nih.gov/search/9qqyJUg…

Max Osterberg has been awarded a Paget Travel Grant by the Department of Chemistry to attend @ISM9London @KingsCollegeLon in June 2024.  Congratulations Max!

Congratulations to our colleague and chemical biologist @jp_gerdt upon his recognition as a 2024 Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awardee.  Congratulations J. P.!

Dr. Julius Campeciño joins the group as an Assistant Research Scientist by way of his home country, the Philippines. Julius trained with Mike Maroney (UMass) and Eric Hegg (Michigan State) and brings his expertise in bioinorganic chemistry to our group. A warm welcome Julius!

A good weekend at the 12th Annual Watanbe Symposium in Chemical Biology! Graduate students Max, Joey and @EmMcRae_Chem all presented their work. Go Giedroc Group!

Max Osterberg, a rising 4th Chemistry Ph.D. student, was selected as a winner of a one-semester Kratz fellowship, which he will take in Spring 2024. The fellowship is awarded every year to a top student majoring in chemical biology in our Chemistry Ph.D. program. Congratulations!

Congrats to our Assistant Research Scientist, Dr. Katie Edmonds (@betainverse) for her unanimous support by the Department of Chemistry for her promotion to the rank of Associate Research Scientist! This promotion is in recognition of her recent contributions the lab!
