This user is a victim of economic rape (20% VAT on pinstripe cloth) at the hands of the scoundrels known only as "the state."

Kanye West should never have been invited to headline Wireless. This government stands firmly with the Jewish community, and we will not stop in our fight to confront and defeat the poison of antisemitism. We will always take the action necessary to protect the public and uphold our values.

@d4nnytye There is a sort of prole who thinks he is in a class war with anyone who has more than 2 GCSEs and he deserves to be brutally repressed.

@d4nnytye This is why I hate identifying as working class and why I am quite elitist in general. I want to spend as little time as possible around people who will mock you for being able to correctly pronounce the word precocious.

i’m always battling posh allegations on here for using big words when i grew up very lower-middle in one of britain’s naffest towns & now earn barely over minimum wage. i’m sorry your parents didn’t restrict your TV time enough but that is not my fault

@boot15_vu This must go so hard for all the people who failed the 11+ and still got a well paying job for life as the economy was not crushed under the weight of the avarice of pensioners.

If you're British and of a certain age, you probably remember watching / being traumatised by Threads, the BBC film about the impact of a nuclear war on the people of Sheffield. But do you remember how that war started?

@JackalArtsmith @_johnbye "Dark ages" refers to the lack of primary sources. War was not constant and actually required a lot of planning and preparation that made it impractical to be in constant war. It could take a lord decades to prepare and mobilise resources for a very minor conflict.

@GileadRespecter @_johnbye Woah holy shit you mean how it was in the dark ages when war was constant? When many adults even couldn't speak properly and were illiterate and where entire bloodlines were ended because of a paper cut?

@BMMusic123 @_johnbye I do not think you understand what "regime slop" means. Something is regime slop if it reenforces the worldview of the postwar political settlement and the social service state. E.g. social realist series like "The Cleaner" or "Adolescence" are regime slop

@GileadRespecter @_johnbye are you retarded, the children cant speak properly because they have been genetically degenerated into retardation. It also caused a massive controversy with Regime talking heads disapproving of it alongside it literally depicting soldiers shooting at civilians.

@megievalist This is cucked. Just write an essay defending the confederacy out of spite to annoy your American studies professor like I did. "Sneaking in" is vastly over-estimating your influence. You are a student not a cold war spy.

@Beggorr @_johnbye Not what I claimed. I just think it portrays an absurdly passive and plastic citizenry. Especially in the long term when the recovery (if a Britain of 4 million under martial law can be called that) is shown.

@JacobTurnerArt @_johnbye Perhaps. But I think portraying people as being literally unable to speak properly because they did not attend a (often quite subpar) British state school of the 1980's seems a bit far fetched for me. Even for a film like threads.

@KugelV5 3/2 in comparison to the website. It would be great if we could have general dealers or local coops that would sell things like that again but this would require much looser regulation, planning permission, and lower business rates.

I am a firm believer that you should have to physically go out and buy what you need, preferably local alternatives, but sometimes (mainly niche computer stuff) there is nothing local

I have wrote about the anxiety of choice & the problem of the abundance of capitalism. I make no effort to cloak my disdain for the daily yoke of technology. Yet there is one contrivance I cannot wholly despise: that I can order something 10,000km away and have it within a week

@KugelV5 2/2 Say I want a linen shirt (ordered some to replace worn out ones a few days ago) . The only place within a commuting distance that usually stocks them is a shop in Hexham. The shop might not have them but their website will. So the opportunities cost for the shop is very dear

@KugelV5 I agree. Semi-doxing myself but I live in the part of Hexhamshire that is not actually in Hexham so getting something in person that isn't pre-owned, plastic and/or slop or a takeaway often means a trip to Hexham or, Gateshead or Newcastle. 1/2

@SconeOf @_johnbye @redcelt2 Very much a product of its time. Interesting how the giant nature of the state (being dismantled by thatcher but the culture of the "big state" was clearly still alive in television) influenced expectation. Kids speaking in bastardised english as there are no schools, etc.
