@DrHWazir I cannot convey the level of respect and gratitude I feel for our NHS workers. Overstretched and underpaid. Total support from me. There is also the bigger picture how govt views workers and their rights. Keep fighting!!!

While politicians are on recess until 5 January, NHS staff & other essential workers are working through the festive period, caring for people & saving lives. They deserve fair pay & good working conditions. Many are leaving because they’re not valued. 2026 must bring change.

Tonight, my two little angels, Imad and Adam, finally fell asleep 💔. Not after bedtime stories, but after fear, cold, and exhaustion. I watched them breathe softly in their sleep. Imagine someone nicks £40 from your £100. They give you £20 back, then call you greedy for asking for the rest. That’s what doctors are facing. They are being paid 20% less in real terms than they were in 2008. Full pay restoration is not an unreasonable demand.

The Health Foundation has estimated that around 30,000 extra beds would meet these demands and end brutal corridor care. Costs would be around £7b per year (+£20b one-off capital investment). We pay over £15b per year to private providers. Corridor care is a political choice.
