EGFR Positive Lung Cancer UK
Scotland has today approved amivantamab + chemotherapy as a first-line treatment for adults with advanced #lungcancer caused by EGFR Exon 20 insertion mutations. The PAPILLON trial showed this combination helps people stay on treatment for longer before the cancer grows again. This applies to people who haven’t started treatment yet. It’s Scotland-only for now. Decisions for England & Wales are still to come. #Exon20 #LCSM

Osimertinib BEATEN!! MARIPOSA (Ami + Lazer) shows significant OS (HR 0.75, p<0.005, 3yr 60% vs 51%) and landmark 3-yr icPFS improvement (36% vs 18%)—first combo to show OS superiority over SoC, extending OS beyond 3 years in 1L EGFRm NSCLC. #ESMOAmbassadors #ELCC25 @myESMO

#ESMO24 @DrSanjayPopat presents an interim OS update for MARIPOSA-2 (amivantamab + chemotherapy vs chemotherapy in #EGFR mutant NSCLC post osimertinib). OS trend favors adding amivantamab (HR 0.73), not yet statistically significant. 18m OS rate 50% vs 40%. #ESMOAmbassadors

Prof @CharlesSwanton finds use of ctDNA in operable #lungcancer determines relapse at #ESMO24. Positive pre-operative ctDNA predicts odds of relapse. Should ctDNA use be standard in all operable cases? Will this inform treatment in future esp those w pre-operative ctDNA?

@DrSanjayPopat @BTOGORG This is a huge blow for UK-based #Exon20 patients like me. Particularly as Mobo was found to be as effective as chemo in EXCLAIM-2... it just failed to show superiority over it. EXCLAIM-1 already demonstrated efficacy beyond 1st line. So its withdrawal is devastating!

This is big news for UK. Mobocertinib is the only reimbursed ex20 inhibitor we have (post platinum) and its withdrawal will leave a big void until other agents get licensed and reimbursed @BTOGORG

@SuyogCancer But why? EXCLAIM-2 just failed to show *superiority* over chemo in 1st line treatment. It was still as effective as chemo... This withdrawal is a HUGE blow for #Exon20 patients like me. Particularly in the UK, where Mobo was our only NHS Exon20 drug.

Another example why we should be careful while using phase 1 /2 trial data for approvals. Mobocertinib withdrawn from USA and globally. Glad to know that company has decided to withdraw it from All over the world, unlike some other companies who do selective withdrawal job .

@KatsuakiMaehara @EGFRResisters @OncoAlert It didn't though-it just failed to show superiority over chemo in 1st line treatment. It was as effective as chemo... & effective beyond 1st line. So this withdrawal is a HUGE blow for #Exon20 patients like me. Particularly in the UK, where Mobo was our only NHS Exon20 drug.

@maraantonoff @MDAndersonNews @IASLC I’m an oligometastatic NCSLC Exon 20 patient. I was offered LCT in the form of chemoradiation in 2021, which has so far proved pretty successful. But if I had been offered surgery, I would have jumped at the chance. Still would! Thanks for highlighting this as a viable pathway!

Why do I operate on stage IV NSCLC? Yes, patient selection is critical. Yes, the cases can be technically quite challenging. But, sometimes we provide life-changing hope to patients. This privilege is the reason why I became a doctor. #lcsm @MDAndersonNews #oncsurgery @IASLC

@hannahmary8890 Haha… yup! The episode Baby Race almost killed me when I first watched it. I will also happily watch it without any children in the room. Bluey is just brilliant!

@hannahmary8890 Thank you so much for posting this. It is so, so important to normalise talking about the tough times in parenting. The social media “highlight reel” usually only shows the good times-and my goodness, the hard times are hard! So thank you for your honesty. :)
