On July 23, 2025, President and Mrs. Macron of France, filed a 22-count, 218 page (more recently amended to 250 pages) defamation lawsuit against Owens.
The case is active in Delaware. The legal bills for a case such as this could be astronomical just eight months into litigation. A trial date has not yet been set.

Owen's attorney's filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Owens attorney's stated: forcing her (Owens) to defend the case in Delaware would cause "substantial financial and operational hardship."
