If you think about it for a moment, it really is mind boggling how stories like the “Hamas mass rape” and the “40 beheaded babies” spread unchecked like wildfire… your mind would have to be primed by so much racism to believe such crazy things without a lick of scrutiny

Let the truth be told, you sanctioned me for journalism. Let the truth be told, you sanctioned me for journalism. Let the truth be told, you sanctioned me for journalism. Let the truth be told, you sanctioned me for journalism. Let the truth be told, you sanctioned me...

Let the truth be told, let the press be free. 📰 Journalists hold power to account, uncover injustice, and keep citizens informed often at great personal risk. This #WorldPressFreedomDay, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting journalists and defending independent media. Because free press is the foundation of democracy.

He was released from prison only to be devastated by the news that his entire family had been killed. There was no one waiting to receive him, no one left to embrace him. All of his family were killed. His only “fault” was that he worked as an intensive care medical provider in northern Gaza. He was imprisoned, and his family was killed in what feels like retaliation for his humanity. He is not alone—many of his colleagues have suffered similar fates, targeted, imprisoned, and having their families taken from them. What kind of pain is this? 💔 My friend and colleague in the intensive care unit at the Indonesian Hospital for several years, Dr. Ahmad, was released from prison only to find that the occupation had killed his family. 💔 What kind of injustice is this? My friend Ahmad writes: “ My beautiful family, I miss your presence… I miss holding all of you, I miss your embrace and being with you. My beloved wife Asmaa, my daughter Ghina—the soul of my heart. I left prison longing for you, my heart burning with love and anticipation to see you again. I never imagined I would be denied that reunion. I was shocked and devastated by the news. Since that day, I have been lost, numb… I have nothing left but to move between your photos. Life has no meaning without you. I ask God to accept you and to reunite us in the highest levels of Paradise. Praise be to Him for His decree and destiny. To be a family, and then to become shattered… is an unbearable feeling.” May God grant you patience, my friend, mend your broken heart, and replace your pain with a healing that eases its bitterness.

For those who don't know. Gaza now has the highest rate of children with amputated limbs in all of modern history. Something you stand before with great sadness and shock, not a passing news story.

There is no justification for this whatsoever. And it certainly isn’t ’antisemitic’ to call out the atrocities inflicted on Palestinians. And it’s been going on for decades.

Middle East Eye
Middle East Eye@MiddleEastEye·
In the Bureij refugee camp in Gaza, 26-year-old artist Areej al-Saafin stands before walls filled with charcoal drawings of eyes, each one shaped by loss. She lost her own eye in an Israeli airstrike, a moment that reshaped not only her vision but her entire life. "I was injured in the war and lost my eye," she says, describing how blurred sight now follows every line she draws. With no materials left after her home and artwork were destroyed, she burns wood to make charcoal, even recalling how she and her family were forced to burn clothes and remaining belongings just to cook. Her art has narrowed, becoming more personal and more raw. "Before the war, I used to draw more broadly, but after my injury, I only draw eyes," she says, her work now reflecting what she calls the anger and suffering surrounding her. "I am still only 26 years old, a girl who just wants to live her life normally," she adds. "But this suffering has buried me alive."
