so @Airbnb let me get this straight we pay $1100 to stay at an airbnb, they then hold the keys hostage until 9pm for check in, only for them to tell me they won’t give us the keys until we pay for an authorization hold, that would be £1,100. we realize that it’s against airbnb TOS, we report it, and one of your representatives TELLS us that he is “withholding the keynest details until an offsite hold is authorized” they said they would help us and we have been waiting for 15 hours, we had to get an emergency hotel for £100, and haven’t gotten a response back for accommodation this week.

@MattWallace888 Stupid take for national teams. While there are surely some that took the passport only because to get in the team, most players are rooted in the country they play for. The only thing I would get behind is on club level, but not heritage, Instead upbringing in the local club .

The World Cup would be so much more interesting if players were only allowed to play for the country of their actual ancestral heritage

@GladosOf @emmasjudgment @ItsPraww @GamingGen Again. 2 people, not owners, manage to schedule 2500 games without any conflicts while also averaging about 300 concerts during the season AND when teams share stadiums, managing not to conflict with different sports. Asking TPCi not to be dumb for 12 regionals aint much.

There needs to be a serious conversation in the community regarding @GamingGen. This post is not to degrade any professors or staff who are genuinely trying to make events as successful and smooth as they can. This organizer has been in charge of NA regionals for 2 seasons now and quality of event has drastically deteriorated in that time. We have seen event prices increase over that time. I decided to track the experiences from myself, people I know and posts made on social media regarding the events and I have those results prepared. This is not an attack post but more of a reflection on the TO we have had for 2 years now. As a community, we should strive for consistently smooth events and constant improvement on those events and I think most people would acknowledge that that is not something we have seen from GG.

@GladosOf @emmasjudgment @ItsPraww @GamingGen For like 20 something years 2 people did the entire MLB schedule including managing it around things like concerts and other events at ball parks. That the largest entertainment company in the world cant do something significantly less complex than what 2 people did is wild.

@ItsPraww @PokeDadRob520 @GamingGen In my opinion tpci tries to avoid having more than one regional the same weekend. And pkm isn't the only client booking venue's. like to assume they try their best to find optimal dates and locations, but sometimes it's just not possible.

@PokeDadRob520 @GamingGen My argument for that is that you can realistically expect weather to be a likely problem in January and they could have panned the event to happen at a time that’s not in the middle of winter.

@emmasjudgment @ItsPraww @GamingGen That's just such a superficial view. Pokémon isn't the only thing that is booking venue's. Sometimes your choices of available dates are limited. I'm pretty sure tpci also tries to avoid having (globally) more than one regional the same weekend. It's not as easy as it looks...

@ItsPraww @GamingGen I believe people are really understating how terrible their scheduling is. Multiple events were held at genuinely terrible times, likely due to a cheaper venue. Events on Mother's Day & Easter is insane, and booking the coldest event in January is borderline negligence.

@LiberoHS @JakeNg812 @Pokemon While I'm a big fan of having a topX cut, as I think it fits a competitive environment better, I can get behind the idea that jr/se get a threshold instead and only masters have the topX cut off.

@JakeNg812 @Pokemon I always believed that Juniors/Seniors invites should be point threshold, as they shouldn’t punish families for not grinding the race. Even if the invite starts at ~500-600 points or something like that to not have unlimited attendance.

Making a post about this just cause I think it should be out there but @Pokemon seriously needs to rethink Oceania’s worlds invites, especially the seniors division requirements In seniors Oceania, including auto invites only 13 players were invited to worlds.. (1/?)

@FreakyDucK_ @Teddytcg The important part is, it CAN influence the outcome of games and the result of others. player in a split are more likely to ID a match instead of trying to win as his personal result isn't so important anymore. (Not all have the confidence that they can actually win the event)

@Teddytcg matchfixing directly affects outcomes and hurts 3rd party players prizesplitting does not do that (in a perfect world) but it has the potential to, however it slanders the competitive integrity of the game this is only "normal" in tcg spaces and frowned upon in others

THIS IS THE FACE OF A THIEF Carlos Merino decided to split the "best of Kaisa" with me and the other three Kaisa players present on day 2. We SHOOK HANDS, created a WhatsApp group with all of us, and decided to split the prize. At the end of the tournament, when he finished first in rating, he decided to ignore the agreement and keep the card for himself. I'm shocked by this behavior. If he hadn't been ahead in terms of rating, the deal would have been valid and he would have gotten his share. @WillPulliamTCG @LeFeverSax It's not just severe actions like conceding. A player in this split is more likely to take an ID than if he fights for the metal himself. Top 64 prices are nothing compared to a piece of metal. Not all have the confidence to make t8. So a split can influence other players results

@LeFeverSax There are still top 64 prizes. If you play someone else who is trying to win best of and you concede for equity then you are the problem I spoke about in the reply to the post.

Riftbound community that thinks splitting prizing is cheating might be dumbest take I have ever seen 5 Kaisa players agreeing to sell the card and split money 5 ways has no effect on the tournament

@WillPulliamTCG Initially I didn't see a problem. Thinking more about it, a split during swiss can influence the outcome of matches. Players are more incentivized to take an ID instead of playing out all matches for the win and higher placement. So a split before the cut is questionable..

@4Chris_Brown Some great explanation about venue choices and challanges. Hope a lot of people see this to understand that "just book more halls in the venue" isnt as easy as it sounds.

"we 4 all played well, lets just do our best for the invite, but just split the metal card" is resonable. But dont do it with randoms you dont know in pers

@mudkip4me @LorcanaLuca spliting is done privatly. The winner alway gets get card in hand.its his property. But then you sell the card and split the earnings. Its not a uncommon practice, but i wouldnt do it with people i dont know. Because this is just a gentelmans agreement, nobody can enforce it.

@LorcanaLuca Did they not do a ceremony for Best of Prizing where they announce the best of player and present them the card and they take a picture with the person who got the card?

@PokeDuelsTikTok Non us-naic? You write as if there are dozens of options. You aware that's not a generic event, it's called the North American international championship? Only USA and maybe canada (which comment suggest not easy) even have the infrastructure to even host an event this size.

i love chicago, but i hate that it was chosen this is an international competitive circuit but it seems like it's a US circuit... choosing the US for every major event the last few years feels disrespectful to the rest of the global community. hoping for a non-US Naic & Worlds next year
