@priorconfirmed The entire economic recovery from the Trudeau Sr catastrophe in the 1990s was based on on a 60 cent Loonie aiding our export sector. Nuking those sectors to aid snowbirds was beyond misguided.

@priorconfirmed For numbers the below is what started the problem. It took Wall Street forcing Martin to do massive cuts to fix the problem. Then Harper went full send on Dutch Diseasing us then Trudeau Jr. turned us into a low wage rentier economy.

Oh and of myself and the 3 smartest people I knew who ended up in the US….I am by far the most conservative. But I knew my parents would gift me a down-payment, they didn’t. They went where their talents were paid market rate and a rate that bought a house.

Canada below US for happiness in 2025.
This is for the 2023-25 3-year average. If you toggle for 2025 only on their website, it's even worse: we're 30th, while the US is 17th.
This shows what the vast majority of Canadians knew already: the last Trudeau term was a disaster.

@acoyne Sir when the most definitive source on a topic has been consistently conclusive, taking any other source and referring to it more than “it provides nuance” is motivated reasoning done by ideologues.

I’d take it up with Prof William Watson, the author of the piece, or the TD Bank economist who wrote the study on which he draws. People whose response to data that conflicts with their priors is “fake news” have a poor reputation as statistical interpreters.
