@DcnB_LovesJesus Worse two weeks of my life was being 2,500 miles from home dealing with my 91 year old dad who had a stroke. He had all the paperwork and it was still hard. I feel for you.

One thing Hospitals could do better: when an elderly parent goes in for major surgery, make sure the child knows more about what is going to happen…not just the OTHER elderly parent. 8 days after surgery and my 89 yearly old MIL is restrained because post-surgery delirium and “sundowning” is still happening. She ripped out her oxygen tube the first day and was trying to pull out her IV also. And her 88 year old husband (my FIL) is just reacting to everything, getting angry at the nurses and doctors, which ain’t helping. Meanwhile, my wife, only child, is trying to manage everything. Please pray for her. And her parents. This is very hard…

My brother called me last week sounding like a man who had just lost an argument he never saw coming. He and his wife are expecting their third baby. By now, you would think he would have figured out what showing up looks like. He hasn't. According to his wife, he has barely been present for a single appointment this pregnancy. Not one. There is always something else. Always somewhere else. Soccer with the guys. Drinks with friends. Board games. A last-minute golf trip with his college friends. Every appointment seemed optional to him. His wife stopped making a big deal out of it months ago because she had been down this road before. She simply started going alone and handling everything herself. Last week was different, though. It was the anatomy scan. The big one. The appointment she had specifically asked him to attend weeks in advance. He promised he would be there. Then, the morning of the appointment, his friends called about golf. He went. His wife went to the appointment alone, she took her mother with her instead. By the time she got home, he was already back, showered, relaxed, acting like nothing had happened. He asked how it went. She told him the baby was healthy. He asked if they found out the sex. She said yes. He asked what it was. She looked him in the eye and said he could find out when the baby was born.😂 He thought she was joking. She was not. He lost it, said he was the father and had a right to know. She told him rights come with presence. Since then, he has tried everything. He apologized twice, got his mother involved, even called the doctor's office himself to get the results. They shut that down immediately. Then he called me, furious, wanting me to tell him she was being dramatic and immature. I sat there quietly for a moment. Then I told him she wasn't. He hung up on me too.😂 The truth is, his wife has carried multiple pregnancies largely on her own while he treated every milestone like it was optional. She decided this one piece of information was finally going to cost him something. I think he's about to become a father again before he ever learned how to act like one. Do you think she went too far, or did he finally earn exactly what he got?
