@DanCollins2011 You do, the gobshite doesn't, he started a war he hadn't planned and failing to plan is planning to fail He didn't inform allies what he was doing, then moans when despite having repeatedly for the last three weeks, he has simply created his own SUEZ crisis,

@jsn_schmitz @its_Lexieroy 90% of US defence spen is inside the US The US has 750 bases, 7% of budget, 200 are on other NATO territory, a fraction of that 7% Japan, S Korea, Guam, Puerto Rico Hawaii not in NATO, the US spending figure is global a fraction is spent on NATO issues but Trump won't tell you

@its_Lexieroy While I agree the US should withdraw from NATO. It’s another money laundering operation. I realize NATO members are under no obligation to help other members in offensive wars. NATO is a defensive alliance. No NATO member was attacked, so no article 5.

🚨 HOLY CRAP! SecWar Pete Hegseth just dropped a truth nuke on NATO “You don't have much of an ALLIANCE if you have countries that are not willing to STAND with you when you need them!” NATO is officially on notice. President Trump never forgets.

@its_Lexieroy Your war of choice, none of the countries involved is a NATO member, you didn't run to the Falklands and help so you lit the fire and might as well ask the African Union to help as they have exactly the same legal requirements to join in - none

@AriFleischer Your war, your issue, just like the Falklands but the Falklands was attacked not a NATO member attacking another country, you lit the fire, you put it out, or at least admit it

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

@JaceTNI1 @SaltyGoat17 Spend inside the US accounts for a huge sum, as some of that in territory spend is to protect a NATO member - the US - it counts, equipment and personel tasked with other territories doesn't. The US can justify 60% of US budget spend in NATO, not total of NATO spending overall

Jace@JaceTNI1·
@GoJodfrey @SaltyGoat17 It's actually only 15%. The 60% figure, is when you add up all countries total defence budget not NATO budget, US is 60% of total spending of NATO based countries on individual defences, but not 60% to NATO.

Total NATO defense spending (2025): United States: $980,000,000,000 Europe + Canada: $512,337,000,000 We pay almost twice as much as ALL the other countries COMBINED!! And who protects who? Anyone else tired of being the world's ATM?

For Europe, it is a time for choosing. They can either align with the American bloc or the Chinese bloc. If Europe thinks it can play both sides, it is sorely mistaken. There is no halfway here. Choose wisely; the fate of your continent quite literally depends on it.

BREAKING: Russia, China, and France are blocking an Arab-backed push at the UN Security Council to authorize military action against Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, per NYT. According to diplomats, the three veto powers oppose any resolution language that would permit the use of force.

@Al33mK @GoonersUnited @aimz0320 @hashurtag It is a global fixed system, of course a 20% hit on supply of which 80% goes east the US about 4-7% Europe 7% and the rest of the world the remainder it will affect the $ by shifting the system, Russia doesn't trade oil in $ and has free supply, that means dollars -> roubles

Be honest with yourselves: Do the U.S. and Israel rely on the Strait of Hormuz? Not really! They barely use it. Punishing global markets thinking that this will eventually hurt the U.S. is extremely childish. We are not in 1970s anymore. Iran’s strategy is mindless. They are just prolonging their own losses. There will be too much left to rebuild and the U.S. would walk away with a little scratch. Iran’s policies have been brainless throughout. They haven’t gone nuke and therefore made themselves vulnerable to external aggression and their only leverage (SOH) doesn’t impact US-Israel meaningfully. Eventually everyone will realize this - even the rabid Iranophile tankies.

@RodDMartin Now, take out the spending not in the North Atlantic treaty region. That's Hawaii,Guam, Puerto Rico, S Korea, Japan ..... 90% of US spend is inside the US 750 bases 7% of total, 200 in other NATO areas a small fraction of that Your figure is nearly accurate, but misplaced

What "political influence" when they deny us use of our own bases? And are they going to buy Russian weapons? Chinese? We just blew those up from Caracas to Tehran. Europe feels entitled to our support. We no longer think it gets to. And since we just added $500B to our own defense budget, Boeing doesn't need your purchases.

@NMonkey73 @RowdyScrog @realMAG1775 Don't mention that the US was being patrolled immediately after 9/11 by other NATO countries at US request, then that the US call to aid, the only time it has ever happened, ever NATO member went into action because the US was attacked. I love watching Europeans tie themselves in knots. It’s so damn easy. They scream about American “imperialism” while begging us to defend their borders, their energy, their entire continent. Then refuse to lift a finger when we ask for help securing the Strait of Hormuz.

My best friend is 36 years old. Every single day he complains to me about Trump. He blames Trump for the Iran War, gas prices, his wife getting deported, and many other things. How can I help him understand that Trump is just trying his best to make all of our lives better, and that he needs to be patient and trust the process?

@BasedMikeLee Look up how much US spend is allocated to where 90% is inside the US 7% on 750 bases 200 in other NATO areas than the US - a fraction of that percentage Guam Hawaii not in NATO, nor Japan,S Korea, US Virgin Islands.... Same as the Falklands, not in NATO so no requests for help

@3211q @BoxemDenni30777 @SaltyGoat17 If your household expenses are $1000 a month yet you rent a summer house for $750, your total budget is $1750, your household expenses stay $1000 US 750 bases, 550 not in NATO, 7% is spent in total on all global locations. 85-90% of regular expenses are spent inside the US

@RachelReevesMP I heard you said you wouldn't drop fuel taxes and duties because it would somehow hit government finances Even I know that a % charge get more income if the base price increases If pre tax £1 of fuel goes up by 10% you get 10% more tax, it isn't a complex bit of maths
