@WarMonitor3 The U.S. relies on The U.K., Canada, Iceland and Denmark to protect its north and eastern coasts. More so than Britain relies on the U.S. to protect our islands. The only time we have been attacked, back in 1982, the US looked the other way.

Trump is right about British and European defence, we need to be reliant on our own militaries to protect our interests for too long we have leaned on US power whilst chronically underfunding our own hard power tools.

A half way smart European would realize this is the wrong time with China and RU acting up to end the friendship with the main super power of the world. The damage Starmer, Hemer and co have done to Britain's international standing and national security is very significant. It is going to take years to fix this.

I don’t understand why the US doesn’t immediately leave NATO. What is NATO for if not for moments like this?

@ukilaw The U.S. relies on NATO to protect its northern border and east coast. There will still be a military alliance, with or without the U.S., but the U.S. will not benefit from those protections if it breaks NATO. The only nation that would benefit would be Russia.

The end of America’s involvement in Iran marks the beginning of the end for NATO as we know it. For decades, the US carried 60% of the burden while Western Europe freeloaded. Now, in active war: • Spain & France blocked US airspace • Germany sneered “not our war” • Italy (Meloni) denied US planes Sicily bases • Macron refused US arsenal overflight to Israel • UK even denied Diego Garcia access NATO is finished.

@0hour1 When did America Enter the war? Britain and the British Empire and our allies had already pushed Germany back from Notth Africa, and decimated the Luftwaffe. Hitler had already opened his Russian front. We would have won in Europe without America. Maybe not in Asia.

Everyone in the UK would be speaking German if not for the United States.
