Spent some time looking at @Morpho on Base today with @dune. This 30D active supplier chart is where I started. There was a real build-up at one point. Participation expanded properly. Then it pulled back. Now it’s sitting lower. What matters to me isn’t the peak. It’s what happens after the peak. The @base hasn’t rebuilt with the same strength. That’s the part I’m paying attention to. 👇🏾🧵

I went back to this @MoonwellDeFi analysis after a few days because something about it didn’t sit right with me. On the surface, growth was there. New suppliers came in waves and there were periods where activity clearly picked up. Deposits increased and the charts looked strong at different points. But when I put retention next to the active supplier base and then looked at lifespan and net flow together, the pattern felt different. A lot of the new activity didn’t mature into long-term participation. The 30 day active base expanded quickly during peak periods, but it didn’t rebuild with the same strength after the drop. At the same time, a large share of suppliers interacted briefly and didn’t return consistently. That doesn’t mean something is broken. It means the growth was sensitive. When participation relies heavily on external push, it behaves differently from growth that compounds naturally through repeat behavior. What I’m paying attention to now is whether the base stabilizes and deepens from here. That’s where durability shows up. For lending protocols especially, stability over time matters more than spikes. The spike gets attention. The stability determines resilience.

One thing I’ve learned from digging through lending data: Volume tells you who showed up. Retention tells you who actually stayed. The second one matters more long term.
