Vancouver is actually lucky that local First Nations are able to use their own rules to provide this much-needed housing that’s walking distance to downtown Vancouver. This is the kind of housing that reduces the necessity of owning a car, making life more affordable and convenient for the people living there. Over 50% of trips in Vancouver are already made by walking, transit or bicycle.
Jim McMurtry@JimMcMurtry01

The wealthy 1500-member Musqueam tribe, which claims all of Vancouver, is building 11 towers (some 56 stories) on an 11.7-acre waterfront site. This density breaks all the rules, but when you’re a court-supported racial oligarchy, you can do anything.

Spend 40K on an EV to save gas and maintenance. Shit loses up to 50-60% of its value within 60 months of owning. God damn you lose over 20K of its value over that timespan so you save a few bucks at the pump a year? How’s those battery replacement costs? Few.

@MarcNixon24 It was a pretty tame episode, good for people to see who Pierre is as a person but missed opportunity politically imo

Last year was the worst year in decades for Canadian real estate. So far, 2026 is way worse: Actual monthly activity came in 8.1% below February 2025:

I think Canada's jobs print just confirmed we're in a recession. I can't see Q1 GDP being positive now and we're coming off a Q4 negative GDP growth= 2 consecutive = recession. We already saw 2 negative quarters of GDP growth in 2025, they just weren't consecutive.

BREAKING: Canada’s economy loses 84,000 jobs in February, as unemployment rate soars to 6.7% 32% chance of a Canada recession this year. polymarket.com/event/canada-r…

If you're selling a home, you should have to provide a building inspection report - instead of every interested buyer paying for their own. We're changing the rules to require exactly that.

@SteveSaretsky Interest is irrelevant when the math ain’t mathing. Developers want to develop, so “strong interest” is not shocking. But developers will also look at the proforma and decide not to build, because math.

BC’s housing minister says housing data implies strong interest from the development community to keep building. I couldn’t disagree more. Everything is pointing to a total collapse in new housing construction over the next few years. biv.com/news/commentar…

The Toronto housing market is showing strange signs: sales are down, prices are falling, and homes are taking much longer to sell. Despite official forecasts, the latest numbers reveal a significant slowdown, with average prices down 7.1% and days on market soaring.

Openclaw is one big grift. Nobody is building anything real. It's just grifting influencers telling YOU how to build stuff (but never build anything themselves). Interesting how you can be building 24/7 but have nothing to show for it... Check the track record of these snake oil salesmen. Same type of person who polluted crypto with their grifty ways. Selling a false dream and taking money from innocent people is disgusting. You can't change my mind.

@GoldAlexander @JonFlynnREstats So whats that mean? Slightly more involved forged paperwork? Something like 80% of people, if they had to buy their home today at todays rates and payments couldn't do so.

My household income is significantly ABOVE the avg in my region (not that impressive, single income). I ran a mortgage pre-approval with 10% down as if I was a first time buyer. No debt, great credit. I qualified for a home significantly BELOW average. Why is that?
