🥍 VARSITY vs. CLUB MEN'S LAX: Highest-level team by school As #Lacrosse booms nationwide and gets ready for an upcoming popularity turbo boost from the Olympics, will we see more Varsity Men's #Lax teams nationwide? I'd be surprised if many more big football schools (especially in the West) make the upgrade. It's not just b/c of Title IX, but even more for a logistical reason: There's nobody local for them to play. Almost all of the major Varsity @NCAALAX teams are in the Acela Corridor, with a few exceptions in the @bigten and @theACC. Everywhere else, we see @MCLA clubs being the highest-level team, especially at the bigtime football schools, where I think there is potential for a unique synergy to build fanbases around high-end club teams in lieu of NCAA Varsity programs. (Note: Men's Water Polo is quite similar, though geographically reversed! Maybe a West Coast ACC and Big Ten can change this someday for both fun sports?)
