Charlie Kirk said passing the Civil Rights Act was a "mistake." And that's what @AOC was referring to when she made this comment. Not only did the Civil Rights Act outlaw segregation in public places, ban discrimination in employment, and ended desegregation in public schools — it also gave Black Americans the right to vote. And when many States bypassed those rights, the Voting Rights Act was passed to address those very issues. So in reality @thatsKAIZEN if the Civil Rights Act was a "mistake" that should have never been passed, if it were not in effect today, it would impact roughly 47 million black Americans. And all the segregation would return, open discrimination in the workplace would be permitted, and desegregation in schools would be a thing of the present. Kirk stated that the Civil Rights Act did more than just prevent discrimination, it "created a massive anti-racist DEI army that then gave us affirmative action." He viewed affirmative action as a negative consequence of or to the Civil Rights Act. Without which, equal opportunities and fair treatment for black Americans would be unheard of. But the fact that he stated it "created a massive anti-racist DEI army" means he would much rather have a racist, anti-DEI army. Bottom line — Charlie Kirk was a racist bigot, and @AOC was spot on.

AOC called Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric ignorant, while making an ignorant statement. She also misrepresented what Charlie said about the Civil Rights Act. We can’t keep doing this - it’s putting people in danger.
