Germany is able to afford free tuition at her Federal public universities, because Germany has a 42% income tax. What this means is that if you earn €100,000, you pay a tax of €42,000 to the government. It is from that tax money that the government pays for the tuition. The tuition is free to the student, but not to German citizens. Besides that, German university students have to pay other fees. Only tuition is free. They pay an average of €750 in other fees per semester. Obi, would you agree for the Nigerian government to take 42% of any money that comes into your account and the account of every Nigerian above eighteen in exchange for free university tuition for those wishing to study at tertiary level?
