Her own coaches just walked the fuck away. Her mother reported it the next day like any decent parent would. The law and their own policy said report it to the Title IX coordinator immediately and get law enforcement involved within 48 hours. These gutless fucks did nothing for 53 days. Fifty-three fucking days of silence while they protected their precious policy and kept letting males into girls’ sports. Only when a journalist started asking questions did these cowards suddenly remember how to do their fucking jobs. The next day they finally filed the report. The principal had the balls to call the mother afterward and say they take this shit “very seriously.” Seriously? You spineless pricks sat on a sexual assault complaint for nearly two months and only moved when the press showed up. And what did it cost? The girl quit wrestling. A sport she’d loved since she was four years old. She quit because she no longer trusted the adults in charge to protect her. Students bullied the shit out of her after the story broke and not one coach or administrator lifted a finger to stop it. They protected the policy. They protected their own asses. @districtai On paper this sounds good to those unfamiliar with the hellscape that is corporate america. In reality all they would need to do is off load all the work to external agencies that employ and shield the H1Bs. Which a lot of companies already do.

If you’re a US company and you either layoff more than 1000 employees or 5% of your staff (whichever is less) you forfeit all H1B workers for 5 years (they have to ALL be let go). This resets every year you hit this layoff threshold.

Water heater died last night. 5 yrs old, still under warranty. Called Manufacturer, they said they'd send parts, but that'd be 4-6 days. Couldn't leave my family without hot water that long. So I called local repair company, they'd been there 5 minutes when they quoted me $1,100 to fix it. Wouldn't break it down to parts and labor until I leaned on them hard. - $300 parts - $800 labor For 30-40 minutes of work. For a water heater that cost me $700 with sales tax. I called the manufacturer back and told them the situation and that I planned on buying a new unit at The Home Depot and install it myself (I'd installed my current one). Rheem said no problem, take your old one with you and we'll give you full credit towards your new one. With the military discount from my buddy that was helping me, I was out of pocket a whole $65 when it was all said and done, and even traded up a model with a longer warranty. Thank you Rheem, thank you Home Depot. Fuck off predatory appliance repair companies.

@musharbash_b This one wouldn't even be that difficult to implement on crop specialized equipment because you're not sending for example a machine for cotton to Wyoming. Another way is segmenting the US into 3 zones and just release each zone with its on sub model and there for sub tool.

Using this strategy, John Deere could easily force farmers to continue taking their tractors to John Deere dealers for a comparable percentage of their repairs as they do at present — even while this settlement is in effect!

1. If approved by the Court, this class action settlement with John Deere will be a catastrophe for farmers and for the broader right-to-repair movement. It will sacrifice the legal rights of hundreds of thousands of farmers for a pittance in damages and a mandate for John Deere to provide repair materials that is riddled with loopholes and, I believe, will ultimately accomplish nothing. For starters, let’s talk about the damages. The repair restrictions by John Deere have been estimated to cost farmers $4.2 billion per year. This lawsuit priginally sought damages suffered by farmers as a result of John Deere’s illegal conduct over the FIVE years before the date of suit. That’s an estimated $21 billion in damages. This settlement gets farmers just $99 million — before attorneys fees are taken out. You do the math. But what makes this settlement truly abhorrent is that it purports to solve the right-to-repair problem, when in reality it gives John Deere MULTIPLE LOOPHOLES through which to keep infringing on farmers’ rights to repair their own equipment and profit from that infringement *at the exact same scale* it’s doing so right now.
