@Will_Schryver Mostly true in our market too. We’re down gross revenue so far this year and pacing about $1M behind last year at the moment. We are starting to heat up now, so hopefully we can make up ground, but homeowners are definitely repairing more and delaying replacement decisions.

@Will_Schryver We literally had a customer get a replacement quote from us 3 years ago, choose to wait, and now the replacement is roughly $5,000 higher. This year they decided to do another repair instead. I understand why homeowners hesitate, but eventually the industry has to do a better

@Will_Schryver A big part of it is education. Customers compare today’s replacement prices to what systems cost 8 years ago, but equipment, labor, refrigerant regulations, insurance, trucks, permits, and financing costs have all exploded. Systems are not going to get cheaper two years from now.

It is time for the United States Postal Service to ban junk mail. Unsolicited spam calls are already prohibited by the FCC. Emails are heavily regulated by the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Junk mail is the majority of mail, 100 million trees per year. Enough!

Water heater died last night. 5 yrs old, still under warranty. Called Manufacturer, they said they'd send parts, but that'd be 4-6 days. Couldn't leave my family without hot water that long. So I called local repair company, they'd been there 5 minutes when they quoted me $1,100 to fix it. Wouldn't break it down to parts and labor until I leaned on them hard. - $300 parts - $800 labor For 30-40 minutes of work. For a water heater that cost me $700 with sales tax. I called the manufacturer back and told them the situation and that I planned on buying a new unit at The Home Depot and install it myself (I'd installed my current one). Rheem said no problem, take your old one with you and we'll give you full credit towards your new one. With the military discount from my buddy that was helping me, I was out of pocket a whole $65 when it was all said and done, and even traded up a model with a longer warranty. Thank you Rheem, thank you Home Depot. Fuck off predatory appliance repair companies.

@Liathetrader It's a personal choice how you spend your money. If the budget is tight, a $6 rotisserie chicken, tortillas, and rice for $10 can feed two people for two days, especially if you only drink water and avoid alcohol, sodas, or extras. If it's tight, it's tight.

Groceries for 2 people. Will last us maybe 5 days. I don’t know how people do it. This country is becoming unbearably expensive. 2k monthly groceries Not counting if you want to go to a restaurant once a week, add another 1k.
