I’d love to see them pelted with tomatoes in Times Sq. by a million people as proof of life, but they’re obviously doing these controlled pressers and stupid videos because 99% of the time he’s hiding from Iranian hypersonic missiles. I have no idea whether any of the vids were or weren’t AI, this one is clearly a nothing burger, though, and I think people are starting to lose it a little bit

@emmma_camp_ I think some people have the impression that "the pandemic" was the isolation period. It's not. It's the period in which people get infections. That's now. It's ongoing. People have not stopped getting infections.

@emmma_camp_ Unfortunately, public health orgs use language that's specific and easily misunderstood. Simply put: the pandemic has not ended, it is simply no longer in an emergency phase. That means that we have vaccines, and you're less likely to die of COVID, but it is still a pandemic,

@1goodtern The exact same people who see a mask and tell people to "get over it, move on"... WILL NOT GET OVER BEING UNABLE TO GO OUT FOR BUNCH FOR A FEW MONTHS, SIX YEARS AGO.

for a while i've had a slight fear that the bluetooth from my airpods could be frying my brain this weekend i pulled the raw data from a $30m government study of 1,679 mice blasted with cell phone radiation and reanalyzed it what i found was...not what I expected? 🧵

@allenanalysis Conservatives have used the prospect of a national ID as the ultimate sign of an authoritative government my entire life and now the Republicans want to require a national ID to vote. Make that make sense. e.g.: #introduction" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">cato.org/policy-analysi…

This exchange just happened on the Senate floor. Cornyn: “I don’t understand how the SAVE Act disenfranchises voters.” Durbin: “Happy to explain. Driver’s licenses don’t qualify under the bill. 50% of Americans don’t have passports.” Cornyn: “Why not just amend it?” Durbin: “When’s the last time the Senate actually amended a bill?” Silence. The SAVE Act requires passport-level documentation to register to vote. 50% of Americans don’t have a passport. The people least likely to have passports: the elderly, the poor, rural Americans, young first-time voters. The people most likely to have passports: wealthy Americans. This is not voter protection. This is voter selection. And when a senator suggested fixing it — his own colleague couldn’t name the last time the Senate amended anything. That’s the Senate in 2026.

@kleavitt @RadioFreeTom Now? He has been the whole time! "Thank you for your attention to this matter" is shit that collection agencies and lawyers threatening to sue will say. And as we all know, he's been on the receiving end of both, possibly more than any other person in this country.

Trump was asked why he took a complete flyer on a theory about the bombing of the Iranian school that no one else suooorts. And amazingly, he said “Because I just don’t know enough about it”

@singingsox The insane part is that the same people who believe that the medical industry prefers to treat symptoms not cause, because treating symptoms is more profitable, also refuse to use masks, air filters, and vaccines to address the !*$*@ cause.

@esjesjesj Replies already doing a great job of conflating commerce with capitalism. Great work, everyone.

@esjesjesj I agree with you, but capitalism isn't "money", capitalism is "investors." So may I suggest instead: Bread literally existed for at least 10,000 years before investors did. "abolish money" is a hard sell. "abolish the parasites that take a big percentage of your wages"? easy.

I think it might be useful to extend that functionality to allow threads to set a preferred arena, so that a process can avoid interleaving its own allocations with those from a shared library, which might make it easier to reduce a process' resident size.

So much in America went wrong when technology offered young people the opportunity to be ignorant loudmouths as a full-time occupation. An entire generation of celebs who have never had a job other than making people mad.

Candace Owens is trying to take down Erika Kirk with a new video series that so far has managed to enrage just about everyone without really making any specific allegations at all. I wrote about the attention-economy logic behind Owens' attacks on Kirk: washingtonpost.com/technology/202…

You believe that the world works the way you want it to, and you're unable to see it for what it is. Your idea of what is normal overrides the evidence in front of you.

Over and over, "I didn't vote for this" Yeah, you did. This wasn't a warning hidden on the side of the box, this was the label on the front. This is what he said he was going to do. You just didn't believe it because it was so outrageous that you didn't believe that he meant it.

The American promise was simple: if you survive the world’s toughest vetting and we grant you refuge, the invitation is real and the rules do not shift with the political wind. Now comes an order that slows green card processing for refugees, then turns that very delay into grounds for arrest and detention. Decades of safeguards that treated paperwork lag as paperwork lag are tossed so lawful neighbors can be rebranded as suspects over a date on a form. That is not renewed vigilance. It is a trap built in a fluorescent lit office, where a backlog on someone’s desk becomes an excuse to put families in cuffs. A confident republic keeps its word. True patriots defend steady law, not circular cruelty dressed up as security theater.
PBS News@NewsHour

The Trump administration has issued a sweeping new order that could lead to the arrest of tens of thousands of refugees who are lawfully in the United States but do not yet have permanent residency, overturning years of legal and immigration safeguards. to.pbs.org/3OQZCG1
