For the last few nights I’ve been diving deep into the files, pulling anything I think is relevant, partly because I don’t know how long the DOJ will have this evidence available to us. I will probably take a break tonight. Last night I went to sleep feeling nauseous and just had a general feeling of heaviness over all of this. I found videos last night that disturbed me to my core, and it left me in tears. It’s so hard to watch videos of what I know are small children while my 5-month-old chunky baby is asleep and snuggled up next to me. He’s so sweet and innocent. But he is also helpless, dependent, and utterly reliant on others for survival. These babies were the same. But no one kept them safe. Where did these children come from? Were they born on the island, nameless and without record of them ever even existing? Where are they now? Part of me wants to know what happened to these babies. But part of me is sick about what the answer likely is.
