'We would ban resident doctors from striking. We need to get tough with these guys.' @MarkWhiteTV challenges Shadow Policing Minister Matt Vickers on the Conservative Party's handling of NHS strikes, as he criticises Labour's approach to negotiating with the BMA.

What do we think ? Are PAs the clinical equivalent of a Swiss Army knife or a butter knife ? Are they a bargain compared to a resident Dr ?

"Look at the state of the public finances, look at the state of our public services.” The Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, urges the BMA resident doctors committee to stop strike action and accept the deal the government has offered.

Labour have finally noticed the Plan 2 student loan problem (after we pushed it). But their cap isn’t enough. Graduates are still paying interest way above inflation. That’s the real problem. We’d scrap interest above RPI entirely. Fair and simple. Only @Conservatives have a New Deal For Young people and a plan to Get Britain Working Again💪

Doctors are on strike today for the 15th time since 2023, costing us £3bn in the last 3 years. Starmer promised to sort it, even gave them a 28% pay rise...it didn't work. Time for serious action. The @Conservatives will ban doctors' strikes, like we do for the army and police.

We’ve been working on new doctor‑specific lanyards and badge holders in our BMA UKRDC workstream, because doctors should be clearly distinguished from PAs and ACPs. We’ll be handing out the first exclusive batch at the London picket at St Thomas’ tomorrow, 8am–12pm. Hope to see you there!

@SameenaAhmad7 @FurkanGozukara You need to be more clear. For anyone else reading this. They are fully qualified doctors with a degree in medicine. They don’t yet have the postgraduate qualification in a specialism which is what you get after years in specialty training.

Absolute disaster for the NHS. An expert resident doctor exposes massive government incompetence. While 54,000 patients wait over 12 hours in A&E, the Prime Minister is actively cutting training jobs and turning away fully qualified doctors. Total system failure.

'Do you accept that striking over this period is going to put undue pressure on the NHS?' - @KamaliMelbourne 'Strikes are temporary, but the pressure on the NHS is continuous, and if we don't do something, the damage will be permanent.' - @DocShivSharma

Wes Streeting thinks that after 5 years training, with £100K debt, doctors shouldn't complain about their poverty-level salaries. Wes mistakenly says that many NHS workers are never paid as much as a day 1 doctor (on 50+hr weeks) - maybe he was referring to a part time cleaner?

@DpcGem @TahaNasser_ @Dr_Done_ 40 hrs per week at £38,831 is £18.66 per hr. Drs are not on the agenda for change contract so do not attract enhancements for bank holiday.

@TahaNasser_ @Dr_Done_ There it is 😂 Do you think doctors are the only important role in the world? This is why doctors strikes have minimal support with the public now, you know, the ones who pay your wages 🤷‍♂️
