@MarwanData What is surprising is that they found 9 people in that district in Far Rockaway to vote for Mamdani. Must have been someone's kids. North East Queens is also much more conservative and areas like Whitestone are still fairly Italian. Forest Hills is mostly Jewish.

I found an even more extreme example of a Cuomo landslide in one of the precincts in Queens. Any ideas why the result here is so overwhelming?

Very Insightful. Many of these voters are notoriously hard to poll because they may have never voted, may speak English only as a second language and are less likely to respond to any outreach that may seem "official". Door to door and phone banking within an ethnic group can be the only way to obtain an accurate reading within this sample set.

Here’s my take on capital flight. In the short term, some will leave NYC, and the media will be all over it to undercut @ZohranKMamdani. However, in the long run, capital not only remains but also returns because it’s drawn to well-managed talent and a balanced public-private economy. Instead of a city filled with a demoralized generation, imagine a city filled with inspired and talented young people. For every hedge fund that does not want to be part of Zohran’s city, there will be a dozen young people moving to the outer boroughs inspired by his vision. Once they put their egos aside, even the oligarchs of NYC will eventually get behind Zohran as they see capital drawn to the new talent pool. Capital doesn't need a Mayor who kisses their ring and can be controlled - we've had this for decades, resulting in proxy local governments run by nonprofits & corrupt/abusive politicians punching down to survive another day. Capital needs a Mayor who can inspire new talent and enforce a public-private balance to save our economy.

How likely is that?

I like his plans for free buses throughout the city because they will benefit all NYers equally and fairly. It will reduce crime, make us feel safer, reduce congestion, bring more foot traffic to our city, and help our economy. I like his affordability plans and his determination to be beholden to us New Yorkers, not foreign countries or special interest groups.

BREAKING: A NYC political consultant I spoke to explained @andrewcuomo's path to victory, which is narrow but there is daylight and here's why. Early voting shows a significant uptick in older voters interesting in the race--50-plus who are NOT likely @ZohranKMamdani voters and they're turning out amid his various lies and flubs (ie his "aunt" from Tanzania, busses that will be homeless shelters, police as social workers). Then the attacks against @CurtisSliwa on various issues and GOPers endorsing Cuomo need to depress Sliwa's vote below 10% (last poll has him around 14%) Then pray for a Giuliani-Dinkins turnout of between 1.5 million and 2 million voters. With Mamdani capped at around 43% (he received around 750,000 votes last time and probably wont get much more) Cuomo can win and save the city from ruination. "But it all depends on turnout," my source reminds me.

I ask because almost everyone who posts the selfie that they voted for him looks younger and we are trying to see exactly what of his policies older voters are drawn to.

His honesty, fairness, and decency. Mr. Mamdani is an honorable man. Despite all the bigotry and hatred towards him, he hasn't responded in kind; he made it a teachable moment. His plans aren't wild, communist, or Marxist. He wants to show us what government should be doing for its citizens, but refuses to do. That scares many politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Well , Mr. Gasparino, I’m a 67 year old ADOS/ Black man and voter. My 11 year old goddaughter has convinced me to vote for Mamdani. I’m not the only senior citizen who have or are planning to vote for Mamdani. We have grandchildren and children who steers our vote. Add that to the well hated person Cuomo is in our city, I’m sure he’ll be defeated and broken on Election Day.

@CGasparino That is essentially the path. The 2022 midterms turnout was 1.8m. As turnout reaches 1.5-1.6m+ then many of the additional voters are specifically NOT Dem primary voters and are thus more likely to vote "middle". Our polling showed that Cuomo received the most independent votes. On the other hand, the larger the turnout, the less the skew towards older voters (which helps Cuomo). If Curtis's numbers drop below 10% and turnout is over 1.6m (but still ~60% age >50+, Cuomo could take the race.
