And then I arrived here — in the United States — and for the first time in a long time, I felt possibility again. I felt welcome. I felt safe. I felt human. The kindness I’ve received, the respect, the sense of order and opportunity… it’s overwhelming in the best way. I am deeply grateful to the American people for opening their doors and giving me the chance to rebuild my life with dignity.
