@theawayfans As the referee are gods and almighty. They can't be questioned.. Everyone receive insult, fans insult players, players insult each other. If referee don't want to be insulted, maybe they should leave the field of play.

German referee Patrick Ittrich has suggested making the following changes to football's rules: 1) "For a tactical foul in midfield, a free-kick should be awarded 17 metres from goal. How often will we see such fouls then?" 2) "If the player rolls on the floor three times and needs a doctor, get him one and make him wait on the sideline for 3 minutes. How quickly do you think the player will stand up?" 3) "If a player insults the referee, send them off for 10 minutes to calm down. Go cycling to warm up before coming back in. We can learn from handball in that respect." 4) "How is a referee surrounded by 10 men after a decision? In my opinion, boom, boom, boom — three red cards. Play seven against ten now. That'd be fine by me."

Tragic news 💔 In 2020, a woman was crushed by a truck on her way to work a few weeks before her wedding. She had a child, and her husband was really devastated by the news. He never got better mentally. Several times, he attempted to take his own life, and different blogs reached out to his friends, who supported him financially. His friends constantly reminded him that he could find peace with God, but he rejected their advice while attempting to take his life more than 10 times. Unfortunately, he took his own life yesterday by drinking Sniper. He recorded himself and sent it to people who cared about him. May his soul rest in peace 🕊️

Lmao I have 2. Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi. Mother Teresa let dying patients be treated with blunt reused needles, had a mortality rate about 40% in her clinics and when she was confronted about the conditions, said there’s something beautiful in seeing the poor accept their lot, and to suffer it like Christ’s Passion. Doctors called her facilities “homes for the dying”. And cancer patients were given aspirin for pain. Gandhi too, the face of universal peace, the person that said “be the change you wish to see”, spent years in South Africa describing Black Africans as “savage”, “dirty” and living like animals. He campaigned actively to prove to British rulers that Indians were superior to native Black Africans. He also organized a brigade to help suppress a Zulu uprising. His defenders say he evolved. Maybe. Nobody likes to talk about the entire sides of history. And these are their summarized versions btw.

There’s a silent disaster happening in Nigeria that nobody wants to confront honestly. We keep shouting about unemployment, bad leadership, low productivity, corruption, poor healthcare, failed institutions and why our country is not working. But many people are avoiding the root cause. Our education system has been deeply compromised. A student enters secondary school or university full of dreams, intelligence and potential. Then the system teaches them something dangerous: “You do not need competence to succeed.” WAEC malpractice. NECO malpractice. GCE runs. Sorting. Sex for grades. Extortion. Intimidation. Victimization. Handout rackets. “See me after class.” “Talk to your lecturer.” “Settle this course.” And after 4 or 5 years of surviving that environment, we expect excellence to magically appear. It won’t. A country cannot repeatedly reward dishonesty in classrooms and expect integrity in government offices, hospitals, engineering sites, courtrooms and businesses. This is where many of our unemployable graduates are coming from. Not because Nigerians are not intelligent. Not because our youths are lazy. But because too many people were trained inside a system where merit was murdered. The painful part is this: UNN, UNILAG, FUTO, ABU, UI, IMSU, ABSU and many others are using largely the same NUC-regulated curriculum. The difference is standards. The universities that still command respect are usually the ones with stronger resistance against sorting, extortion and academic fraud. The ones collapsing in reputation are often the ones where corruption became normalized. Once a student realizes they can buy an “A” with ₦20,000, or sleep their way through a course, or manipulate results through connections, the motivation to truly learn starts dying slowly. And when millions of such graduates enter the labor market, the entire country pays the price. That weak engineer may eventually supervise a bridge. That poorly trained nurse may handle a patient. That compromised accountant may manage public funds. That fake first-class graduate may become a lecturer and reproduce the same cycle again. This is no longer just an education problem. It is a national security problem. Countries become great because they protect competence fiercely. Singapore did it. China did it. Germany did it. South Korea did it. You cannot build a first-world country with a third-world attitude towards education integrity. Nigeria does not have a shortage of talent. Nigeria has a shortage of systems that protect excellence. And until we become ruthless about fighting academic corruption, exam malpractice, sorting, sex-for-grades and institutional intimidation, we will continue producing certificates instead of competence. This fight is bigger than schools. It is about the future survival of Nigeria itself.

My friend went to pick up a waybill from Lagos at Upper Iweka in Onitsha. The items were heavy, so he called a wheelbarrow man to help carry them. While they were passing through MCC, where he was supposed to enter a bus to his destination, two agberos started following him, saying he had to pay ₦5,000 for the items in the wheelbarrow. The wheelbarrow man gestured to him to ignore them, but they kept following and threâtening to béat him. When a bus going his direction stopped, the agberos insisted he must pay them before entering the bus. So he gave them ₦1,500. They collected it and still insisted he should add at least ₦500 to make it ₦2,000. The wheelbarrow man then saw the money he gave them and told him his own fee was ₦2,000 too. At that point, my friend was sweating and shaking badly. He paid the wheelbarrow man, entered the bus, and thought everything was over. But do you know these two agberos entered the bus and continued hārassing him inside? When they got to Borromeow bus stop, he finally gave them the extra ₦500. They came down from the bus and followed another direction.

UPDATE ON THE MURDER OF ABDULSAMAD JAMIU -29 April 2026 Following the visit of a military delegation to the family, a military police investigative unit has since been deployed to the scene. The investigators conducted formal interrogations of all key witnesses, including the sister of the deceased, the parents, neighbours, and members of the community vigilante group. It was during these interrogations that a deeply disturbing detail emerged. The vigilante members revealed that after they had been directed to mop up Abdulsamad’s blood, they were further instructed by the soldiers to bury the remnants of his shattered skull and brain matter in the backyard of the family’s home. The vigilantes led the investigative team to the exact location in the backyard where these remains were buried. We wish to be clear about what this means: the remains of our son’s head were buried in the ground of his own home like refuse, without the knowledge or consent of his family. The investigative team has given the family their assurance that the investigation will be thorough and that it will continue until answers and justice are delivered. The family acknowledges this commitment and will be watching its fulfilment closely. The family of Abdulsamad Jamiu wishes to use this moment to express profound and heartfelt gratitude to every Nigerian who has taken up this cause and refused to let it be buried alongside our son. To the media houses who gave our grief a voice and our truth a platform — thank you. To community and political leaders who have stood with us and spoken up — thank you. To the friends of Abdulsamad, who have kept his name alive and reminded the world that he was loved — thank you. And to every individual who shared, commented, prayed, and demanded accountability on our behalf — you have not done so in vain. The family remains resolute. The investigation is ongoing. Justice for Abdulsamad is non-negotiable. — The Family of Abdulsamad Jamiu #JusticeForAbdulsamad #JusticeForSamad

UPDATE ON THE MURDER OF ABDULSAMAD JAMIU This morning, 27 April 2026, representatives from HQ Nigerian Army, led by Brigadier S. O. Buhari, visited the family to offer condolences and to inspect the scene of the incident. During the visit, they stated that they were unaware the house was fenced and that the room where the shooting occurred was located downstairs. This contradicts their earlier claim suggesting the death resulted from a “stray bullet.” The delegation expressed condolences and assured the family that the officers involved would be investigated and held accountable. The family has formally demanded the retraction of the initial statement and a public apology for what they consider an insult to the memory of their son. Although there was a promise to delete the statement, the family made it clear that trust has already been undermined, especially given that some military personnel had visited the scene the yesterday before issuing the statement in question. We reiterate our demand that those responsible for the killing of Abdulsalam Jamiu be brought to justice. This was not an accident. He was in his home; military men entered the premises, approached his room, and shot him through the door. Twice. This was not a mistake.
