ADC PICKS RT. HON. CHIBUIKE ROTIMI AMAECHI AS ATIKU’S RUNNING MATE. The National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), after extensive consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, youth and women stakeholders, and representatives of all geopolitical zones, is proud to announce that the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has been selected as the Vice-Presidential Candidate of our great party for the 2027 Presidential Election. This recommendation follows the successful conclusion of the ADC Presidential Primaries, in which Rt. Hon. Amaechi emerged as the runner-up, earning widespread support from party members across the federation and demonstrating his enduring appeal as one of Nigeria's most experienced and respected political leaders. The proposed partnership between His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi represents more than a political alliance; it is the coming together of two tested statesmen with the experience, national reach, and leadership capacity required to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges and reposition the country for a new era of prosperity, security, and inclusive development. Rt. Hon. Amaechi brings to this ticket one of the most comprehensive public service records in contemporary Nigerian politics. His experience spans all major pillars of democratic governance. He served with distinction as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, making him one of the longest-serving legislative leaders in Nigeria's Fourth Republic. He subsequently served two terms as Governor of Rivers State, where he oversaw significant investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and public sector reforms. At the national level, he served as Minister of Transportation, leading some of the most ambitious transportation and rail modernization initiatives in Nigeria's history. Few political leaders in Nigeria today possess such extensive and balanced experience across both the legislative and executive arms of government. This depth of experience will be invaluable in supporting the next ADC administration from day one. Beyond his impressive credentials, Rt. Hon. Amaechi strengthens the ticket strategically. His political influence across the South-South and wider Southern Nigeria, his reputation as a reform-minded administrator, and his proven ability to build coalitions across political, ethnic, and regional lines make him uniquely positioned to complement the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar. Together, Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi embody a truly national ticket—one that bridges regions, generations, and political traditions. Their combined experience in governance, economic management, public administration, party organization, and nation-building offers Nigerians a credible and compelling alternative capable of restoring confidence in government and accelerating national development. At a time when millions of Nigerians are demanding competent leadership, economic revival, job creation, security, and national unity, the Atiku-Amaechi ticket sends a clear message: the ADC is prepared to govern, prepared to unite the nation, and prepared to deliver results. The leadership of the ADC is confident that this partnership will energize our growing coalition, inspire hope among Nigerians, and provide the leadership necessary to build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Federal Republic of Nigeria. The ADC therefore calls on all party members, coalition partners, civil society organizations, youth groups, women leaders, and Nigerians of goodwill to join us as we embark on this historic journey to renew our nation and secure a better future for generations to come. Signed: Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi National Publicity Secretary African Democratic Congress (ADC)

Dear beloved sports-loving Nigerian youths, After watching the performances of Davido, Burna Boy, and Rema at the opening of the 2026 World Cup—at a time when Nigeria, the giant of Africa, is absent—I felt a measure of consolation. This was reinforced by the fact that many Nigerians playing for clubs worldwide are representing other countries. Felix Nmecha, for instance, set a record by scoring the fastest goal at six minutes for Germany. I write to you therefore, knowing that this country belongs to you, the youth. You are more of stakeholders in Nigeria’s future than I am. I am 64 years old; by God’s grace, much of my journey is behind me, while yours lies ahead. It is therefore imperative that you rise to the challenge by obtaining your PVC, your most powerful tool for driving the change you desire. In the last three years alone, over 15 million Nigerians have turned 18—enough to decide who becomes President, Governor, Senator, Member of the House, or Local Government Chairman. Indeed, enough to shape the nation’s future. I know many of you are sceptical about politics and political parties. I understand why, but scepticism must not become surrender. You do not need to belong to any party or wait for anyone to organise you. Organise yourselves in your streets, campuses, communities, workplaces, churches, mosques, and social groups. Mobilise, debate, demand accountability, and take part in choosing those you wish to entrust with leadership. If you are organised and wish to hear directly from me, invite me. I will come and share my plans for you and our nation. Do not sit on the sidelines while others decide your future. I appeal to you to register and vote. Your vote can shape who becomes the next President of our country. My young friends, this is your country. Take it back. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

@ADCVanguard_ Amaechi cannot even win his own ward. The main contribution he had to Buhari's election is the Rivers State vault he opened up for them to use as they pleased. Almost zero electoral value

The Atiku/Amaechi ticket has not been officially confirmed, but the panic around the mere possibility is already telling. Some people are asking whether Rotimi Amaechi has “stooped” to become running mate. That is the wrong way to look at politics. Leadership is not about ego. It is about timing, sacrifice, calculation, and national interest. If Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi eventually emerge on one ticket, it will not be a small political development. It will be one of the most experienced combinations in Nigeria’s democratic journey. Atiku brings economic experience, national reach, private-sector understanding, and decades of political negotiation. Amaechi brings executive experience, grassroots toughness, South-South political weight, former governors’ network, federal exposure, and the courage to stand in difficult political battles. That is not “stooping.” That is strategy. Politics is not comedy. It is not about who shouted during an interview or who sounded angry before cameras. Serious politicians understand that personal emotion must sometimes give way to national rescue. Nigeria is in a deep hole. Hunger is real. Insecurity is real. Businesses are collapsing. Young people are tired. Families are under pressure. This is not the time for childish pride. A strong opposition ticket must do three things: unite the country, challenge APC’s structure, and present a serious alternative to the hardship Nigerians are facing. An Atiku/Amaechi ticket, if confirmed, has the capacity to do exactly that. Those laughing today know why they are nervous. They know such a ticket would speak to the North, the South-South, the business community, the political class, and ordinary Nigerians who simply want competence back in government. Until it is officially announced, let us treat it as speculation. But one thing is clear: the fear of that possibility alone has already entered the room.

Has it been confirmed that Rotimi Amaechi will be Atiku’s running mate?? So after feigning anger at that interviewer for asking him if he’d be VP candidate, Amaechi still stooped? Lmao! Only God knows what they promised him. That thing they said about everybody and price…

Why Atiku Chose Amaechi as His Running Mate Insiders within the ADC explained that it became evident that selecting a candidate from the South East would offer little strategic advantage, particularly since Peter Obi is already contesting under another party’s platform. The initial plan was to choose a governor from the South West. However, it was concluded that voters in the region would be reluctant to trade the presidency for the vice presidency. As a result, attention shifted to the South South, where former Governor Amaechi’s political network and influence were seen as assets that could significantly strengthen the ticket. — Tribune

What June 12 Should Mean to Us Nigerians Today, we observe a day that should mean a great deal to us as a people who cherish democratic principles. Every year on June 12, the conversation inevitably turns to a critical assessment of the state of our nation. It serves as an annual benchmark for asking important questions: Are our elections today as transparent as they were in 1993? Is the social contract being honoured? Are the institutions of governance truly serving the people? Ultimately, June 12 is a powerful blend of reflection and aspiration. It honours a fractured past while serving as a constant and foundational reminder of the immense power inherent in the collective democratic will of the Nigerian people. For us in Nigeria, June 12 is not merely a date on the calendar; it is the emotional and structural bedrock of our modern democratic identity. Officially recognised as Democracy Day, June 12 carries deep historical, political, and social significance, representing both a monumental tragedy and the ultimate triumph of the collective will of the people. To understand what June 12 means to Nigeria, one must examine its history, its evolution, and its enduring symbolism. A new era of true democracy is POssible. -PO

Today, I write from a place of deep pain, disappointment, and frustration. Words can barely describe the emotional burden I am carrying after losing 600k on a betting ticket that I trusted and believed in. What makes this loss even harder to accept is that the game was booked by @39Billion, a person whose confidence and reputation led many, including myself, to believe that the selections were worth trusting. Right now, I am overwhelmed with anger. Not just because of the money that is gone, but because of the hopes, expectations, and sacrifices attached to that money. 600k is not a small amount. It represents countless hours of work, sleepless nights, personal sacrifices, and plans for the future. To watch such a huge sum disappear within a few hours is heartbreaking beyond words. Today, I mourn the loss of 600k I mourn the plans I had for that money. I mourn the hope I attached to that ticket. And I acknowledge the emotional and mental toll this experience has taken on me.

Despite Three Years of Tinubu's Food Emergency, Nigeria hungriest ranking index declined to among the worst nations globally. In celebrating his supposed successful three years in office, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu listed some achievements in the agricultural sector, firstly, his declaration of emergency on food security in July 2023, followed by the acquisition of 2,000 tractors and 9,000 farming implements, stated as Nigeria's largest agricultural mechanisation programme. Yet the outcome of this has been the opposite. Nigeria's hunger index has worsened significantly. Nigeria's hunger index ranking was 103rd out of 123 countries surveyed in 2022/2023, and this figure had since worsened to 115th out of 123 countries surveyed in 2025/2026. Consequently, Nigeria is now classified among the world's most hungry or food-insecure nations in the world, with the World Bank forecasting that 33 million Nigerians could experience severe hunger. In fact, Nigeria has the highest number of hungry people in the world. I have always maintained that Nigeria have no reason to be seen among the hungriest nations in the world when we have fast, uncultivated land in the north, which is our greatest asset today. We must transparently invest in Agricultural production, which will guarantee food security, but create huge employment. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
