ok so the other day i was at sears. I was in the baby section. Im standing there looking at clothes and a lady who works there comes up and is like "oh are you expecting?" And i was like "uhhhh" and because im a dumbass i was like "no i already delivered." And she was like "How long ago?" And i was just like "two weeks." And she said "wow! You look great! When i had my first son, i looked like a mess for six months. Is it a boy or a girl?" And i was just awkwardly like "a girl...." And she asked her name and i said Chernobyl and she was like "oh what a cute name! It sounds really familiar." And i honestly just stood there going through all that and pretending i had a human baby two weeks ago named Chernobyl because i didnt wanna tell this poor lady i was buying baby clothes for my fucking baby opossum

My 3 year old: there are so many stories stuck in my mind. My husband: do you know how we get stories out of our minds? We tell them. My 3 year old: stories, please get out.

Tonight I had dinner with 2 friends. Both surgeons. Both leaving the UK for consultant posts where “Our skills are actually valued.” Continue treating Drs as replaceable commodities and soon there will be very few Drs. @wesstreeting We need their skills here.

when my daughter started kindergarten, there was a form asking who should be contacted first in case of an emergency. i put her dad’s name. he works closer to the school, has a more flexible schedule, and actually answers his phone. two weeks later, i got a call at work, missed it, of course, then another, and another. when i finally stepped out of a meeting and called back, they said, “we couldn’t reach you.” i asked if they’d tried her dad. there was a pause, then, “oh… we usually call mom first.” i didn’t argue. i just thought about how systems don’t always need rules to keep doing the same thing over and over.

I’ve seen someone else on here suggest that the retired doctor who wrote this was a “junior” doctor in 1974 when he was “happy with £7,500” Just so we’re all clear on the maths: £7,500 in 1974 in today’s money is: 🔹 £114,756 by RPI inflation. 🔸 £72,046 by CPI inflation.

The other night I was invited out for a night with the "girls." I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, "I promise!" Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easily. Around 3 a.m., a bit loaded, I headed for home. Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hallway started up and cuckooed 3 times. Quickly, realising my husband would probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution, in order to escape a possible conflict with him. (Even when totally smashed... 3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos totals 12 cuckoos = MIDNIGHT!) The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in, I told him "MIDNIGHT"... he didn't seem pissed off in the least. Whew, I got away with that one! Then he said "We need a new cuckoo clock." When I asked him why, he said, "Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said "oh shit" Cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another three times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted.

Sad night last night but today is a brighter day. The ewe (female sheep) on the left lambed a stillborn and we were unable to resuscitate it. She cried most of the night longing for her lamb after we removed it. The ewe on the right lambed twins last week, though they were very small. It seems that today she has given one of her twins to the grieving mother to raise as her own. This is a photo of them together with their new children.

this one time when i was seven i thought that i could talk to trees (because i had no friends), and i use to sit by them and say things and one day i was talking to my tree friend called kevin and this girl went up to me and said "are you talking to that tree, freak!" and i started crying and hugged on to the tree, and while she was laughing one of the branches fell on the girls head, thanks kevin.

I sat next to a baby for a 10-hour flight. I didn't think it was possible for someone to scream for 10 hours straight. Even the baby was impressed I pulled it off.
